Censored word

Why is the word "sex" censored on this site? It is a commonly accepted word and I am sure not subject to misuse.
Yes I bypassed the censor but used it in it's correct sense for the sake of asking this question.

We've gone over this before, twice actually. It was Daveh's rule/word. It was in the cenosor before any current mods became mods. None of the mods would change it, as it is Daveh's board. To get it changed, you'd have to get Daveh to agree.
Mainly it was due to spammers, before the Registration & Posting of links rule. So althought it may be moot now, for those reasons, the adverts are another issue. The type of adverts depends on key words used in topics. Bear, the moderater, posting in a topic, or his name mentioned, has had this advert shown: GayBearDating.com. I've seen Adult Dating sites, when Adult has been used.

OK, thanks Jeff. I was not thinking in terms of ad spammers and it makes sense now, although as you say with the rule on links in the first posts/days it could possibly be relaxed.
However, if the mods are happy with it as it is, then so shall I be.
