Just doing my part for the community.
I found that if using a web-browser that includes tabs, instead of right-clicking a link and selecting "Open in new tab..." you can (if your mouse has it) press the link with the middle scroll button of your mouse, and it automatically opens a new link and over-rides any open in new window command.
Saves a bit of time and effort.
Thought you might like to know.

That works for sure in firefox (WHY ARE YOU NOT USING FIREFOX ALREADY!?!?!), and I think i IE7 (WHY ARE YOU USING IE7?!?!).
Also, holding the CTRL key while clicking a link will open it in a new tab. Holding shift while clicking a link opens it in a new window. Holding ALT while clicking, will save that link to your PC.

I use FF and IE...
Some stuff appears better in one rather than the other, and vice versa..

The new version of IE is awful, they've basically taken Firefox and made it worse.

Opera has had this feature since at least version 6.0, which is I believe from 99. A much superior browser to IE or FF.

Such utterance is a gross blasphemy!

Opera also saves all your open tabs so that the next time you open the program, you dont have to type in the adresses again.

Reasons to use Firefox:
1) Adblock
2) Adblock
3) Adblock
4 - 10) Adblock
11) Other plugins
12) it's not IE

Firefox has done this from its very first inception.

Firefox does this too.
On-topic, some other useful things with FF: Ctrl+F4 closes the active tab
Stylish is the best add-on ever (google it, for some reason I can't do links)

Bad reasons. I have the pop-up blocker that came with my windows disk and the only times I get pop ups and ads is if I allow them

Besides, IE
6 owns all

hehehe you can believe that if you want to but I would suggest getting a decent spyware/adware remover and run it, and then come back and tell us you have no ads on your pc.

Well, I didn't make this thread thinking it was some super-cool advancement in modern technology, I just thought some people might not know and it could help them.

Well, I went to my father's house and he had Norton adware. It was exactly the same.

Want to avoid ads? Edit your host file. 90% of those bad boys come from the same ad servers. Nip them in the bud as it were and send those links to 127.0.0.0 before you even load them.
Also, I'm a Firefox convert (THINK RUSSIAN!) and if I need a page that won't render right because it's only formatted well for IE, I run the IE Tab plug-in. Fantastic piece of work.

Fixed. Noscript blocks almost all ads anyways, and protects you from many other things as well.
Not that Adblock is bad in any way, I just much prefer noscript.

It would appear that many people here have no idea what adblock actually does. I've never had adware on my machine, and noscript and FF already do a terrific job of keeping out popups.
I'm talking about ads on the pages themselves. For example, on this page in IE I see a box that says, "Ads by Google" with some ad for "Free Elder Scrolls (Game)". In Firefox it's not there--all I see is a small line that says "sponsored links."
It's very rare for me to come across a page nowadays that has anything blinking or flashing or otherwise distracting, and when I do, it just takes a quick click or three for me to add another wildcarded entry to my block list. It's a lot more flexible than messing with my hosts file, because I can put in rules like whatever.com/*/ads/* or any other rule that will block ads but not content I want to see. I can block files of any kind, scripts, frames, iframes, anything that I don't want on my screen. It can even block text, but the way it does that is somewhat impractical.

Noscript blocks (or can block) googleads, flashblock stops the flashing banners, unless you want them. That combo means I haven't seen an ad on a page... well, since I installed them.
Occasionally I'll go to a site I like in IE and click links to help them generate money, though. XD

Hosts File: I usually use the hosts file from here:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
and modify it with the list in Spybot S&D for good measure.
I also run both Adblock and NoScript.
