Visual Trivia!!!!!

A twist on vanilla Oblivion Trivia, I present to you... Visual Trivia! The fully modded Trivia Game for the whole childless family. Fancy yourself a world-worn explorer? Know the backwoods of Tamriel as well as any Imperial Ranger? Just plain lucky? Well, here's a thread to prove it. Guess the location, get... to present a new one, I suppose. Should work similar to the old Oblivion trivia thread, with a few ground rules to make things run smoother:
  • Questioneers- no using mods. Slight modifications may be acceptable, but areas added in by third party mods, or worse, your own personal mods, are naturally right out (unless MAYBE there's an easily identifiable vanilla landmark somewhere in the picture). Official addons, like Shivering Isles and Deepscorn, are acceptable, but discouraged, and if you must take a pic from one of those mods, try and let folks know it's from a DLC. Also, please try and make it something we can get- no pointing your camera at a blank corner and asking us which of 500 different corners it could be.

Answerers- You don't have to get the exact map coordinates down to the fifth decimal place, but try and be as specific as possible. "Somewhere in the Jerral mountains" or "along the east coast of Cyrodill" aren't kosher answers. "Northwest of Bruma, roughly half way between Bruma and Dragonclaw Rock, looking east" and "the third small island out from Anvil" should be fine, although the question asker obviously reserves the right to demand a more specific answer from people if he feels she wants one.

Taking screenshots: in case y'all don't know how to take screenshots, it's very simple: point your hero at whatever you want a picture of, hit the PrntScrn button on your keyboard, and the screenshot is saved in your main Oblivion directory. Console codes like tm (which hides menus), tfc (which gives you control over a free-floating camera), and fw (which lets you change the weather in case you can't get a good shot) are helpful, too. Host images at free websites like imageshack or photobucket.

X-Box users: you're SOL, I guess. You can guess and get credit for your answers, but since you can't really take screenshots, somebody else will have to step in for the next round... unless you're really, REALLY good at describing a scene, I dunno, we'll see what happens when we get there.
OK! So let's see if this works. First question will be an easy test; I'll post the "official" starter picture after someone gets this one.

You are at Fort Nickle, looking across the lake, the bridge leads to the entrance to Talos Plaza, The Imperial City.

Bravo! Although I probably would have accepted "just outside the Imperial City", or "how stupid do you think we are?". So here's another guideline: if posting long distance pictures, try and specify whether you're looking for the object in focus (Imperial city), the spot you're standing at (Fort Nickle, looking across the lake etc), or both. That way you could take pictures of interesting landmarks from an odd angle (up in the sky, say), without forcing your poor fellow forumites to try and duplicate the location from which the shot was taken. Or you could take a picture from a drab and semi-useless location, but include a reference point to help clue people in to where you're standing.

OK! First location:

Where could this place be? And for extra credit, what is it?

I thought it might be Nenalata, but it's not quite right. Esp with that chest in the water though, it's v. familiar.....

Nah, not Nenalata. To be honest, I didn't even notice that chest until a minute after I posted that picture... walked straight by it in the game, snapped a shot of it, completely failed to register. Probably contained some choice loot, too, so looks like I may have to hoof it over there again... errr, I mean, if I did have to hoof it over there. Not implying it's somewhere far from a main road or anything, nope. Why, for all you know, it could be right on the main Imperial City Island- not that it is, clearly.

Need a hint?

I so know that I've been there. Is it that ruin nr the Mouth of the Panther??

Though I'm also wondering if I've somehow got hung up on the east coast of the Niben inlet. Isn't there also a ruin abit like that somewhere west of IC, or maybe North of? Poss even one something like that when you're off to do Finger of the Mountain?

I'm all so confused now!!!

You're almost in the rough vicinity with one of those twenty guesses, but it's not near the Panther. The grass and foliage are pretty distinctive...

Oi! Cheek!! I was just voicing my ruminations!!! Had absolutely nothing to do with trying to cover all the poss options!!!!

I still can't quite place it though, and I'm not firing up Ob at the mo to go trekkin....

So more Colovian Highlands rather than Jeralls I take it?

Maybe. Let's just say it isn't Frostcrag Spire, nor is it the bottom of the ocean.

Is it the Wayshrine of Mara in Blackwood

Nope. But it is a wayshrine... sort of.

Woo Hoo, I am there!!! :D

No idea what it is though, doesn't come up with any kind of name. The chest prob isn't worth going back to, only a silver bowl and 2 gold in it for my level 30 char.

I'd forgotten how much I enjoy just going for a run across the landscape!

Anyhow, it's just South of the capital "H" in Highlands on the map.

There's even a nirnroot there, plus a couple of other small ponds next to it.

When you go underwater, you can see that it is a wayshrine, but nothing to activate.

OK Doros and jeff, try as I might, in order to be able to avoid having to get abusive with you both, that so is not Fort Nikel!!

Fort Nikel is about my fav place to loot in the game, and as soon as I saw Fort Nikel against that piccy, I couldn't believe it, even though I haven't been there for mths!! It is up the road, just north of there, and yep, I know I'm being pedantic, but I do expect perfection of you two afterall!! :D

You foundses it, precious! There's also another chest at the bottom of the northern pond- that one I DID find, unlike the one I was looking at. On the map, it's:

Here. West and a little north of Battlehorn Castle/ Chorrol, right near the Hammerfell border.

Your turn, weka. Pick a spot, take a shot.

What is the setting that you need to change in one of the files?? I know I've made a note of it before, but of course can't find it now! It allows "print screen" butt to work with Ob.

You need to change a setting? I must have done it so long ago I forgot... let's see...

Oblivion.ini, which should be located in My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\. Change the value for bAllowScreenShot to 1.

Well, I was thinking it was just outside teh Inn of Ill Omen, but tht's not right, as there are no fences anywhere near that section of the road. It's none of the inns along the Niben or Lake Rumare, none along the Gold Road, and none of the stables as near as I can tell. Any hints?
