I haven't made a clan yet, but I've sent all of you some meat to get started. Since today is Oyster Egg Day, visit the market demon at the market (in the Seaside Town) to get yourself a basket. Then, when you're adventuring, you'll randomly find eggs! :D

If anyone else start playing, let us know!

I've just been reading about it, and any game that incld's a "Naughty Sorceress" has got to be good!

One thing that worries me though is how much time it takes up, and if you need to ensure that you keep your visits frequent and regular?

I went there last night, but then they went on downtime for Maint. What I saw looked interesting, meaning funny. It sounded like a vampire game I played, where you only got so many moves a day.

NOOOOOOO i have no quests left.

I think I'm leaning towards Disco Bandit or Accordion Thief, prob the later. Deandra, do you have any advice on either?

Edit: I went with Accordion Thief. I'm weka there too.

I ran out of Adventures and drank heaps of the Mad Train Wine. Heres a tip for everyone don't do that and go out adventuring. Not good. :x :P

Some basic tips:

You start with 80 adventures, and you get 40 adventures per day every day after that.

Food and booze give you more adventures, but you can get too full to eat or too drunk to drink more. Once you hit 15 drunkenness, you also can't adventure anymore because you're too drunk.

Today is Oyster Egg Day! If you get a basket from the market and hold it in your off-hand, you can randomly find eggs as you're adventuring. If I know your in-game name, I'll do my best to send you some meat so you can all get your own baskets.

Meat is the currency. Don't beg for it, cause it makes you look like an ass. If you're nice to people, people tend to be very generous.

Accordion thieves (the most popular class among you guys, looks like) can buff other people, but they can only have 3 songs in their head at once.

You have HP (hit points) and MP (mana points, although the exact name changes depending on your class). Once your HPs run out, you get beaten up, and all you can do is rest at your campsite. Resting also restores your MPs, which you need to use your skills. You can buy a tent at the marketplace that will make resting more effective.

A big part of the game is trying to figure things out as you go along, so I highly recommend not checking spoiler sites (like Coldfront, etc) that walk you through all the game's surprises.

To join a chat channel, you need to visit the Altar of Literacy by the good side of the tracks in the Seaside Town. The channels are moderated, and people do get banned, but everyone here is nice enough that you'll never have to worry about that. :D

We now have a clan!! :D

Name: UESP

I've whitelisted the 5 player names I know about (Arotos, I forgot your alt's name...) so that you'll automagically become members if you choose to apply. I put some seltzers in the clan stash (regenerates MP) which you guys are free to use. I'm trying to save up 50000 meat to buy a mall store, so I'm going to be kind of cheap until I hit that milestone, but after that I'll try my best to help you guys out!

I am a Saucerer.

I figured it would help to fill out the clan. It was a toss between that or Turtletamer.

I is lerarit now tooz. :P

How does I join the clan...

I need to get my moxie up. How do you do it easy

Posted: Tue Nov 20, 2007 7:01 pm
by Jeff
There is no easy. From what I've seen, you have to adventure. When you are attacked, if you dodge, it increases your moxie one point. Plus sometimes you get some, I'll just call them bonus things. From what I've seen it is random. I'd use my salsaball spell, and get a bounus to muscle.

I did make level 2 though. I also has me a chain-mail monokini & a Kentucky-style derby...

I'm saving up to buy me a better spell.

Strangely, someone hits the chat, and asks if anyone wants a spell cast on them. Nobody replies, then I get a message I was spelled. It gave me a temp 10 point, 50 turn Magicality bonus. Nice people. :D

Posted: Tue Nov 20, 2007 7:19 pm
by Jeff
There are some bonus items. I joined the League of Chef-Magi, and they gave me two Magicality pills, and a Giant Moxie Weed (+1 Moxie).

I have no idea what I'm doing! I bought my basket, but now can't seem to see it anywhere (or is it not supposed to show up?). I click on quests, but have no current quests....

How do I join uesp??

And jeff, how on earth do you pronounce your name?!

by Deandra
Yep, the folks in the newbie channel are great. If you tell them that you're new, and are polite when you ask questions, they'll help you out with advice (usually sent by whisper, so as not to reveal spoilers), buffs, and sometimes they'll even send you items to help you out. Most of the people in there are NOT newbies, they just want to help out others. If you chat with people a bit and get to know them, they'll be especially eager to help you out.

Accordion thieves are the main buffing class, and some of the nicer ones with too many MPs on their hands will burn them buffing everyone in sight :D

Stat gains are sort of random from fights, but in between regular fights, you'll get adventures with scripted rewards (or penalties). The best way to level up is just keep adventuring and doing quests. Visit the Council for a new quest every level, but you can also get them by offering to help in adventures, or by finding items you can use (such as maps, etc).

Weka, I missed your question about needing a lot of time--you shouldn't feel like you need to do too much! You can spend as much or as little time on KoL as you'd like, you keep getting 40 adventures a day whether you use them or not, up to 200. If you want, you can ignore the game for a week and burn all your turns in 1/2 hour when you come back, they tend to go pretty fast, depending on how fast you read :D

Once you're in the chat channel, you'll want to know these commands:

/r message
This replies to the last person to send you a whisper (which shows up as blue text in your chat box). Be careful with this one when many people are sending you messages. Example: /r Hello!

/w name message
This sends a whisper to someone, whether or not they have already whispered you. If a person's name has spaces in it, you will probably want to use their player ID# instead of their name. Example: /w Deandra Hello!

/join channelname
This lets you switch channels. In particular, trade is exclusively for trading, and normal is for normal conversations. Newbie is for asking questions and normal chat. Example: /join newbie

/me emote
This lets you write out actions in the third person. For example: /me can't wait for Thanksgiving! becomes Deandra can't wait for Thanksgiving!
in the chat.

Most of what you see in your chat panel is clickable.
Clicking on a person's name will take you to their profile page. From there you can see their clan info, mall store (if your level is high enough), what items they have, how rich they are, etc.
Clicking on a green message that someone has sent you a message will take you to your inbox.
Clicking on a green message that someone has made you a trade offer will take you to the trade screen.

To use your basket, click the link on the top of your screen to go to the inventory, go to your equipment page, and equip it. This won't work if you're using a 2-handed weapon (such as a stolen accordion) so wait until you find a 1-handed weapon.

To start getting quests, visit the Toot Oriole on Mt. Noob. Find the link to Mountains on the top of your screen, then find Mt. Noob. Just follow along with those quests, which should get you well into level 2 and give you a better feeling of what's going on. After that, visit the council of loathing in the seaside town, and wander around town and other places to check out what you can do.

You can join UESP once you're level 3, according to Jeff :D . You can probably do a search through the clan district, but a fast way to do it is type /whois Deandra in the chat window, click the green link that comes up, and find UESP listed in my profile. If you click the link to UESP, it should have an option to apply to the clan. If I've set everything up correctly, you should be whitelisted and able to join immediately after you apply.

Yup, Deandra helped me out. Definately go to Mount Noob. You can get level 2 there.

Boh Di Sat Va

It is a Steely Dan song, it is Buddhist for Angel/Enlightened One.

I liked the grammer part. Judging by how many people seem to get those words muddled these days, I'm amazed so many have managed to join!

jeff, what did you do after your mosquito?? I'm getting loads of loot, but I want level 3!

Tip: Visit the gourd tower in town and do that quest.
