Trying to be a level 1 Dark Brother

Hey guys, I just exploited the mansion in Anvil so I wouldn't level up when Lachance greets me, but now after killing the old man, I have to sleep again?! Is there any way to do a similar workaround like the mansion in Anvil WITHOUT becoming a vampire? I despise being level 2+!!!

Thanks

Well jeez. Why do you despise level two so much? If it gets too hard, simply lower down the difficulty slider, that's what it is there for.

Sorry, but you have to sleep to do some of the quests. If you have PC, the workaround is easy but other than that I do not know of any ways to get past not sleeping.

I have the PS3 version, and have no idea what the difficulty slider is.

I'm not having trouble with the game, this is just my third time through and I'm trying something different =)

I seem to remember that there are other ways of sleeping without leveling, but my mind and google are failing me!

Why are you so against leveling? Just for the thrill or for the fact that you get killed ? The difficulty slider I think is under controls. Like when you go to the menu (not journal) and its under the settings.

I just figured it'd be a fun experiment.

That page doesn't help, neither does the Under Leveling page.

Well, to finish the main quest you need to be level two. To finish all quests in the game, 22.

Sorry, I can't help you anymore. I don't think there are other ways to escape the stupid oblivion leveling system. I escaped it once, but that was due to a mod.

Sorry, wish I could help.

Go in the start menu, go to options, gameplay, and theres a slider. Left = easy... right = hard.

I have never had a huge problem with the levelling system. Except for the fact that you may WANT to stay down! In any other game know one would! :?

Just for curiosity, but why would you WANT to remain a level 1 character forever????

...because this game's leveling system is crap. If you are level 1, then all your enemies are level 1. If you are level 20, all your enemies are level 20. If you level your stats smartly, then you can overcome it. If you get your main level high with stupid skills, then the enemies can kill you.

If your enemies can kill you, you just have to play smart and not run head first into a bunch of monsters, try and avoid them or seperate them and beat them one at a time. It better it being too hard then too easy.

If you want to level up you have to sleep in a bed right. So can you just go and sleep in the forest?

And you're a moderator?

Sleeping anywhere makes you level up.

[edit] Oh, I see, you're just a Mac user. Never mind.

Do you guys suggest going thru the main storyline first, then doing guild quests and what not?

I don't want to spoil the quest line too much, but there are 3 big battles in the main quest (1 of which is optional) where you will want to keep your friends from getting slaughtered, and those 3 keep getting harder and harder as you level up. So if you want the main quest to be as easy as possible, do it sooner rather than later. But clearing out an oblivion gate at higher levels will net you tens of thousands of septims per gate, not to mention a powerful sigil stone (think +50 magicka or 25% of a shock shield, which is a straight 25% reduction of any physical or shock damage you'd take). Doing the main quest at lower levels means you will see a lot of stunted scamps and maybe a couple of clannfear, while higher level daedra are a lot more interesting.

In summary:

Doing the quest early is easier but gives less rewards.
Doing it later is harder but gives better rewards.

I always get the main quest out of the way, considering the reward at the end isn't leveled....whereas, the Dark Brotherhood has leveled reward items, I always wait until about level 30 before starting those.....

My only problem with the level system is that when you are under level 10, the game is too easy. When I reached 30, everything just seemed to stop leveling with me and all the enemies started being the same.
