After the credits, we learn that Mastercheif and Cortana are safe and well. If you beat it on legendary, you see that their ship is drifting towards some kind of planet...
In Halo, there is no coincidence. Everything is for a reason. This is why I think there is going to be a Halo 4 about MC's adventure on this planet.
What do you think?

I finished it on Legendary alone today. I think the planet is Onyx. Check halopedia. It answers ALL our questions. Trust me, you will appreciate halo more when you understand the way everything fits.

I played the first time on legendary co-op.
Had to play again by myself to understand it... other person skipped every cut-scene.
The IWHBYD skull helped too.

THERE IS NOT GOPing to be a halo 4
microsoft said quote"this is the end to thwe story arc"
what u see manty people have speculated over, but the common consensus is that it is the marathon station from the marathon games
no halo 4
the next game is halo wars

Marathon and Halo are not in the same universe. I think Bungie did that to mess with us and give us some supah cool for beating Legendary.

The HALO storyarc is finished. Now, may there be some sort of game in the future that is based in the HALO universe? Yes, and I'm not talking about Halo Wars. But, don't really count on it or speculate on it.

Technically, Halo Wars is before even Halo 1. You control the marines in their fight against the Covenant.

I can't even play Halo 3 cause I don't have an XBox 360! Wonderful game though, I just hope they release it for PC before they go and make a fourth one, if they will.

I think if the story is going to continue at all it would probably be in the form of books. Was at Barnes and Noble the other day and saw a couple of books based on the Halo universe. Anyone read them?

Yeah. As far as novels based on games or movies are concerned, they're quite good.

Yeah I'm sure M$ will just let their most successfull game series in history go and not worry about all the money it could earn them.
They're not greedy at microsoft.

Maybe...when you went through the portal, your somehow got transported to another universe. The planet (or whatever it is) does look metallic or something.

When they mean universe, they mean all that exists. The two games are in seperate universes so they both are non-existant to each other. Get what I mean?

actually, bungie has hinted that they are, and no company has denied that they arent
and btw:
what do you guys not understand about a statement saying
"END OF THE STORY ARC!!!!!)
by the head of the company that makes the game?!?

For its time i think marathon was a good game. Anyone know its story or should i just go to halopedia.

i know the story
and btw: if u pay close attention, ull see that bungie slipped hundreds of references to marathon into halo

I know there are a multitude of references and easter eggs in Halo that have to with Marathon, but thats it. They're just references and easter eggs, not statements by Bungie that Halo and Marathon are in anyway related by story. Yeah, they have similaritys. Does this mean they are related? No.

They already said that there would never be a Halo 4 but I really don't think they can just end the series like that. Ok Halo Wars is coming out but still they have to make a Halo 4.

I think the only reason there are so many similarities between Marathon and Halo is because some of the same people worked on both games. It's not unheard of for programmers to use ideas from previous games in new releases. Most likely the commonalities are intentional coincidences placed by the coders.

Maybe it's just me, but I always found Halo's story to be like the Da Vinci Code, everything adds up, you know.

Its like halfway down the Marathon game you walk out of your ship to be greeted by Masterchief.
