i am making an assassin type charachter but dont know what race to pick i want to be human but i want to be an assassin.can anybody tell me what race and main skills to pick.

Pretty much any race, skills that are easy to control levelling (spellcasting you don't intend to use much, speechcraft, weapon skill you don't intend to use (blunt?), alchemy maybe.) Take at most one skill you intend to use on frequent basis, no more.

This way you get a... completely unballanced character which will be somewhat harder to play in the very beginning. Put him through normal fighter training mill for first 7-8 levels or so (levelling 5/5/5 in plain battle-related skills and strength, endurance and agility/speed) then if you can kick ass of everything you come by, "advance" to an assassin.

Starting off as a stealthy assassin will make your life a hell when you reach levels of 10 or above. Keeping "class skills" in majors will still make you weak then. Build skills you need instead of buying them on startup, give yourself some basic fighter endurance and then despite being the game's underpowered "stealth" class you still can kick ass.

I suggest wood elf for asassain/theif.

i agree with vook,cause my friend was an assasain but once he got to about 25 to 27 he just gave up cause it was getting to hard.but if thats what you want go with that its yur choice.

*Reasons I didn't put in Sneak or Security, these can EASILY be leveled and better off staying on Minor for making a more powerful character. And I've viewed these two becoming the reason why most people stop using their assassin/theif characters is because these two skills cause the character to level up much quicker without actually focusing on making the character stronger. 100 Security/Sneak wont help you out in a fight, unless you want to avoid it.

Closely resembles my Assassins Build, change a few things since mine uses most of the major skills to be minor so I can make for a efficient killer, making him get 100 stats quicker and get to a higher level

i go with khajiit birthsign the thief then make a custom class with marksman security sneak blade light armor possibly athletics to get out of places faster or run from guards and then i did conjuration so i can summon a dremora lord or something to keep the guards busy

I tend not to use magic much as an assassin in early levels for getting higher magicka takes a long while so I concentrate on Strength (carrying and melee dmg bonuses) Agility (marksman dmg bonus) Endurance (health points, i last nice and long) as my first 3 to get to 100.

Afterwards Intelligence, Speed, Willpower.

I've gotten my Argonian Assassin to get to lvl.52 without struggling to survive through this set up

I am happy that you are looking through the archives, but this is exactly the kind of post that doesn't not need to be brought back from the dead.
