Drain Skill

ok I know this is cheating, but ever since I had a scare with restoration, I have decided I would up me restoration skills. I don't want to spend all day casting heal minor wounds, over and over.

After searching and reading all over this forum I have read this: you can go to the Arcane University make a spell that drains the selected skill to 0. then go to the lower level trainers and cast this spell.

Well how is that done, as I have the obsorb spell for restoration which I purchased at Anvil, however I can't see where it says cast on self when creating it in the spell maker at the Arcane University.

I'm guess it has been removed from my version, or I'm doing something wrong or I have the wrong spell

Yes, you have the wrong spell. You don't need absorb skill. You need drain skill. I know this works in Morrowind. If it works in Oblivion, too, I don't see that much sense in it, since you can train only 5 times per level, anyway.

P.S.: Be aware of your character's resistance to magic. If you have a Breton for example, a Drain Skill 100 pts spell will drain that skill only by 50 pts.

Thanks for you're reply Belthazor, I do see what you mean now.

Now I know why it was hard to find out about this cheat. I think I will stick to using potions. Thanks anyway

Just in case anyone else is thinking of doing this, I purchased all the drain spells I needed in Skingard at the Mage guild.

I know drain attribute works like that, I think, I assumed skill would be the same set-up.

Yeah, once you get one, when you make a spell, you have the dropdown, with all of them. For attributes and same with skills.
