How do positive/negative effects add?

I hope the smart people on this forum can answer this. My character wears items that provide a total of 110% resist magic. I would like to wear the gauntlets of resilient flesh, which have a penalty of 5% weakness to magic. Do these add, giving me a net 105% resist magic or does the weakness to magic start at 100%, making my resist magic actually 95%?
Thanks!

If I remember correctly, it would be 110% - 5% = 105%, but I could be mistaken.

The game definitely allows values of >100% in its calculations for Weaknesses (ie these values are not capped at 100%.) Given that Resistances and Weaknesses seem to be similar types of values within the game then the game should also allow >100% for Resistances.

So I too would say that your overall Resist Magic should be 110 - 5 = 105%.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve been trying to get an “ultimate” set of armor and just can’t get around the archer problem. There’s no way to avoid archer damage and still keep 100% resist magic and reflect damage. But it’s fun puzzling thru it!
