Help with Hermaeus Mora quest

I'm doing the Mora quest where you have to trap 10 souls from each of the races and after trapping 3 I can no longer do it. I'm using the Mora soul trap but it won't trap any souls. I play it on PS3 and I saw a tip where you try and soul trap an object that can't be trapped so the message appears telling you this and then you cast it on your target but that didn't work either. Any ideas?????

one- make sure you are trapping different races
two- reload a previous save

1.) Cast the soul trap on an unwanted NPC and then cast it again (within 120 seconds) on the NPC you actually want to trap (at this point, if everything was well a pop-up message would appear telling you that you can only soul trap one person at a time). Now kill the second NPC and you should trap their soul successfully (assuming you needed their soul in the first place!).
2.) If this does not work, cast the spell on an invalid target (e.g. a crate, barrel, horse) and then on your desired target. All ten races can be collected this way, without having to revert to an older save.
3.) Saving your game to a
new save (
be sure to not overwrite the last save made before the start of the quest), quitting out of the game entirely, restarting, and reloading can fix this problem.
4.) If saving and reloading does not work then you may have to load a game that was saved prior to the start of Hermaeus Mora quest and redo the quest.
Sorry, that's about it.

They said they tried #2, they did not say they tried #1.
You didn't mention #3.
That gives them 2 more options.

I misread your post thinking it was giving the steps on doing the first fix

Sorry if you posted this one Jeff. Too much detail for a simple folk like me.
There's a glitch that stoppes you're soul trap/gem working. It is triggered by casting soul trap on two different Npc's (don't ask how) without killing the first one.
