Hey guys so I wanted to make this thread for awhile, I am a Yogi and meditator of a few years and wanted to make a space for us to gather, discuss and generally just hang out.
But since this is the internet, and I cannot trust people to control themselves I have to ask that we try to adhere to the rules and guidelines of the forums in that we should not use this as a space for debating the validity of religious practices, nor as a place to argue amongst ourselves about who does it better. Everyone has a path to follow and it is not for us to shape them in any way, change them in any way or make them the way we want them to be. \
So, what kinds of meditation do you guys do if any?
I usually do Bhuta Shuddhi or my Shambavi Mahamudra kriya but if you guys have any suggestions for guided meditations or tracks to do yoga to please share .

I've been behind the PC like all friggin day for the past few days so dont want to text wall but yes I practice mindfulness meditation and have done so for some time. Frankly it's part of my exercise regiment and I don't consider it different from other physical exercises. I probably will text wall on this later assuming the forum can handle this topic.

Mindfulness meditation is amazing. I really like using it as a practice to steady myself before doing more intensive practices. The emphasis on not making yourself feel bad for screwing up is refreshing. Because focusing is hard.

So for a guy who has never delved into this stuff in the slightest and has only fringe knowledge at best, what's a good place to start?
I can't say I'm not interested but I also can't say I'll stick with it (I'm finicky like that), but I figured if I had advice on starting from someone who was into it I would have an easier time.

So theres always the classic mindfulness meditation, you basically just make your mind focus on your breath as you inhale and exhale but when it wanders off you do not get frustrated with yourself and just move back to watching it.
However, I like Isha Kriya. Its a free 20 minute meditation led by Sadhguru that comes from many sources and they have free smart phone apps. Its a very powerful practice that gives you the most physical feel for it. It always perks me up.

This is what I call breath/breathing meditation and it's not the same as mindfulness. It's almost a byproduct of progress made in mindfulness. Again, maybe I'll post my own little text wall later.
I will say one thing about meditation: It works the same way as exercising does. Just as there are thousands of different exercises - some completely off the wall and unrelated (or even worthless) it's the same way with meditation. Also if you want to improve you have to stick with it. And if you want to keep results you have to maintain the practice. Just like reaching a good mile time or losing weight or whatever.

I took yo regular meditation recently. I just practice basic meditation where I clear my mind and calm my thoughts. I think too much, and this has been the perfect method to me.
And I swear, I wish I started this sooner. It REALLY works IMO. Even though I still get annoyed at some things, it's not that much like it would be, and my focus is much higher.
