Offering Box

I read somewhere that you can leave jewelry in an offering box which are by tombs in chapel undercrofts and something will happen can anyone confirm this or has any info on this?

Nothing happened on my one. But im 50% sure if you take things out of the tomb that they're ghosts will attack you.

I have yet to really find anything in the offering boxes to begin with
and sense they are empty I was thinking they served a purpose for players maybe even in an upcoming plug-in or something

It may possibly been intended that way although I suspect it's just something Bethesda added in for realism's sake. It's part of the Cyrodiil custom, to offer something to the dead as a mark of respect (and likewise not to take from them). Would be great though if you were rewarded in some small way for making an offering. ^_^
As for confirmation, I can't say I've ever done it (I prefer to take
) and I can't find anything about it. Possibly cut from the game?
