Well, this is it. After acquiring the game almost 4 years ago, a few re-starts and more than 850 hours of gameplay (according to Steam), I've finally finished the main quest line and all the major faction quests. I've become Thane of every hold, bought & outfitted every house I could, become leader of the Companions, the Arch Mage of the College, Guild Master of the Thieves Guild, a Nightingale, Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, Harbinger of the Companions, inducted into the Bard's College, reunified Skyrim under the Empire, slain Miraak and cleansed Skyrim of the Volkihar vampire clan.
I have traveled the length and breadth of Skyrim, explored every nook and cranny of Solstheim, plumbed the depths of Blackreach, ventured into the realms of dead heroes in Sovngarde, conversed with lost souls in the Soul Cairn and crept cautiously in the realm of Apocalypse.
It has been a fun, albeit frustrating at times, ride.
This Dragonborn has decided to put down her sword and retire peacefully in Windhelm. Perhaps she will take it up again in time, there are still places to explore in the wilds of Skyrim. But for now she is taking her well-earned rest. No more dragons to fight, draugr to slay and bandits to bring to justice. In her dreams she sees another world of ruin, of people enduring unspeakable hardship, of strange weapons that emit light yet kill; warriors in hulking metal armour; of monsters and ghouls. It is strangely compelling and alien yet strangely familiar to this Redguard from Elinhir.
Wait! A portal opens! She can see a home, with a couple, their baby son, and a strange talking metal ball - clearly a servant of some sort. What Dwemer sorcery is this!? Perhaps this land will not be as cold as Skyrim, she thinks to herself. She somehow knows new adventures await. She takes a last, longing glance at Hjerim, then starts to step through the portal.
Wait! calls out Calder, her housecarl. Dovhakiin! Where are you going?
She considers her answer for a moment, then replies, "I do not know. All I can tell is this new land is called the Commonwealth."
Why? comes the reply.
"Because I sense that there are people here in need of a hero," she says thoughtfully, before stepping through the portal.

I was expecting a prophecy of Coldharbour for a second. Oh well.

She'd better go try searching every nook and cranny in TES II.
