Continuing the discussion from GD, we were debating what John Hammond says in the scene from Jurassic Park where he is on the phone with the other group and they start shooting at the velociraptors trying to get in.
This clip from youtube thinks it's 'Grant!' that he shouts, but I don't think it looks (or sounds) like he's saying that. What do you think?
Hmm.. I think he's saying Grant. Or maybe he [&@%!] himself and is requesting a pair of clean pants.
PANTS!

This is some context for the phone scene (according to IMDB)
Hidden:
Dr. Alan Grant: [calling Hammond on the phone] Mr. Hammond, the phones are working.
John Hammond: Are the children all right?
Dr. Alan Grant: The children are fine. Call the mainland. Tell them to send the damn helicopters.
[we hear the raptors smashing the windows]
Dr. Ellie Sattler: It's gonna come through the glass!
[Grant starts shooting at it. Hammond listens to the noises]
John Hammond: [screaming] GRANT!
Hammond had a semi-thick accent, so he might be yelling "Grant!" just all garbled and slightly off.
Or he might not be; I'm having audio troubles so I can't actually hear him say anything, (plus I'm horrible at reading lips).

I read the through the entire novel in five hours. And there was a thunderstorm outside by the time I got to the tyrannosaur attack.

Just watched JP 2 last night... What in Sam-hill happened on that boat? Everybody on board is dead, but the boat managed to steer itself all the way to San Diego? Do this boat have autopilot? And gymnastic kicking a Velociraptor five feet... that's just bad physics.

Maybe they were set on a straight course?
Another odd point about the ship, is the fact that the dino killed all the crew in the first place. Iirc, some of the bodies were in the cockpit (?) - how'd a massive t-rex get in there without smashing anything? Also, did the t-rex kill everyone, then voluntarily go back into the enclosure, then one guy, apparently with his last breath, manage to press the door control buttons?

I believe it was the younger one that killed the bulk of the crew.. That or we're suppose to assume that and not ask questions. Either way, plot hole

I've been reading up on the new Grabbyhands Rex. Uhh, slight spoilers ahead I guess.
Spoiler:
Indominus Rex is a mix of Giganotosaurus, Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus and Rugops.
Indominus does show quite a few similarities with the species it's based on. Roughly Giganotosaurus-sized, the wide facial structure of Majungasaurus, hornlike protrusions like Carnotaurus.. it all checks out. But what about the huge arms? Giganotosaurus' arms aren't much bigger than T. rex's. The other 3, all belonging to the abelisaurid family, have even smaller arms that are not much more than vestigial stumps.
My guess: there's some Spinosaur in there too. Can't really think of any other large theropod with arms like that.

Spoiler:
they may have spiced more than we assume>_> it has unusually high intelligence to the point of hunting strictly sport and challenge... Not survival. I can relate some modern birds would even add more to certain skills than a raptor

Spoiler:
Yeah, seems like they really went the extra mile when creating this thing.
On a different note, I just read that Carnotaurus in the Lost World novel has extremely well developed chameleon camouflage... and it's nocturnal.
I've no problems with chameleon dinosaurs, I actually think it's a really cool idea. But Crichton, please. Why in the name of Raptor Jesus would a nocturnal apex predator ever develop such a trait?

Spoiler:
That extra mile just skimmed down our odds of survival
So.... Are you saying Predator is going to make a cameo? Bc if [&@%!] hasn't hit the fan yet... Prepare to be buried up to your neck.... Ah, I can smell the extinction
Seriioulsly, who's bright idea was this? Have we not learned our lessons yet?!

I really dont see the attraction of genetically engineering a very intelligent, super-styled predator.
What do they plan to make it do when visiters come to see it? In our own zoos, we just look at the animals, who are only fed with chunks of meat and dont actually utilize or show their hunting skills.
Imagine if we designed a lion, mixed with the intelligence of a dolphin, the speed of a cheetah and the killing instinct of a crocodile. What would we do with it? If anything, it seems like something you would film in action and watch on television, not a creature you would want to get up close to and oggle at in a safari park. Such an animal would certainly not have the personality to tolerate a restricted environment like that either.
Now a rainbow stegosaurus, or a pterodactyl that flies through flaming rings sounds like a much more fun/safe option.

I never realized it, but I need this in my life. Make it taste like skittles and we're set.

Ask and you shall receive. (I'm still working on the skittle flavour).
Anyway, yeah Spino's pretty hard to beat when it comes to coolness factor. I think it's cause it's a crocodile, a T. rex and a dimetrodon all baked into one. New Dino has a lot to live up to.

Don't forget he can swim and snap the neck of unlucky challengers.. So basically nowhere is safe. I always liked him and not just for the coolness factor... He just seems more lethal

I think you'd be pretty safe up a tree. Or in an aerial vehicle.
