More Oblivion .ini Questions

I like reading the .ini file. It makes me feel smart. :D But rather than FEEL smart, I'd actually like to BE smart. My question is as follows:
Lines in the .ini file begin with a set number of letters: /f/, /b/, /i/, being the most common, but others, such as /r/ as well, and perhaps others. What do these letter mean? Does this "prefix" denote something special? Obviously it must. But what are they for? Do lines beginning with /i/, for example, have a different impact on the game and / or script itself versus, say, the prefix /f/?
