The Remnant of Light

Could any ESO players give any insight on this book and the Remnant it describes?

Basically, here's what I'm taking away from it: the Remnant is part of the Staff of Towers, and thus a reflection of a specific Tower. Or perhaps it's some different Ayleid relic of power, but the connection to Anumaril makes me think specifically of the Staff. What the book seems to be describing is how this Ayleid lord, Filestis, led a group north ("He kept the sunset always in his leftmost eye.") to form the Snow Tower, with this Remnant as their Stone, and thus became the Snow Elves.

Which would all dovetail nicely with Aurbic Enigma 4, though it would likely mean that Anumaril was very long-lived. But I don't know there's some stuff in-game which challenges this interpretation.

Based on that book being in the Rivenspire collection, I'm gonna assume that the Remnant of Light is the "Light of Life", seemingly the Stone of a failed recreation of Adamantine Tower called the Doomcrag. It was built by the Aldmer (Ayleids?) of Rivenspire to focus Aurbic power, and the Light of Life healed disease and allowed plantlife to flourish throughout the region. However, the Stone was corrupted in a war between the elves and Rivenspire's original inhabitants. It was transformed into the "Lightless Remnant", and Rivenspire reverted into the craggy, windswept region it is today. See this page for more info.
Spoiler:
In ESO, we learn that the Stone was further corrupted when a Vampire Lord, Count Verandis Ravenwatch, interacted with it, causing his three companions to acquire the curse themselves. The zone's storyline involves stopping these guys (who were driven insane, naturally) from using the Remnant to spread a "blood curse" throughout all of Rivenspire, transforming the inhabitants into vampires and mindless bloodfiends. You eventually destroy the Doomcrag when Verandis sacrifices himself by making a pact with Molag Bal, trapping himself and the Remnant in Coldharbour for eternity because apparently Bal has a tendency for hoarding evil shiny things (see: Fighters Guild questline).
Tl;dr I don't think it's Snow Throat.

Thanks, Legoless. That's rather disappointing; I would much rather have learned the origins of the Snow Tower than the Doomcrag. But it's still good to have a better grasp on the subject.

The concept of failed Towers or pseudo-Towers is new and interesting, at least. It logically makes sense, even. Makes you wonder how many other failed attempts there were, and what went wrong.
