A few random questions

Reflect vs Resist
Is there a reason to choose Resist over Reflect? Also, when using an item like the Mundane ring that has reflect spells and resist magic, which does it do first? Does it reflect 35% back, then resist 50% of the last 65%? Or does it resist 50%, and reflect 35% of the last 50% back?

Speechcraft
Does bribing increase experience?

Eating Ingredients
After raiding a farm or two I had about 200 ingredients, about 4 different kinds of food. I think they all had restore fatigue as the main effect. After eating them all, my alchemy didn't increase much, if any. I am skill level 47 alchemy, and I was about halfway through that skill point. It didn't appear to move at all, and when I calculated it at .5exp per ingredient I should have made it to the next level.

Night-Eye
Anyway to make this look not so annoying? Like make it just make everything lighter rather than bluer.

Removing Items from Inventory
"player.additem <Form ID> <amount>" is the command to add items to inventory, I am guessing "player.removeitem <Form ID> <amount>" is the command to remove them? After I remove them, where do they go? It's like they never existed right?

103% Reflect Damage
I hardly ever see my armor skills increase anymore, is this the reason? It is odd because I think they have increased once or twice since I got this. Since damage from arrows and from spells aren't blocked, are they the reason the armor skills are increasing (albeit slowly)?

Thanks for any help :D .

EDIT: One more question

Oblivion Gates
I completed the main quest a good 150 hours of game play ago. Before I completed it I only closed 10 gates. I would like to close the other 50 now, but I am not sure how the correct way to do this is. Of course everyone I come across now is already ruins, so I want to somehow open up the 50 I haven't done, but no others.

Speechcraft

no, bribing does not increase your exp.

Nighteye

try changing the settings for brightness or color.

That would change the settings for the entire game, if you are talking about doing it on my monitor. If you are talking about in the .ini file under night-eye then yes, that is what I am looking for. I don't know what it is called in there though.

I dont realy use either resist or reflect much, but reflect enchants are better as they hit the striker with part of the damage.

Most damage is received from melee attacks, arrows and spells does basicaly nothing, unless ofcourse you have you're difficulty slider over half way, but still more damage from melee.

also sampling ingrediants is a bad thing to do, to lvl my alchemy i just buy out alchemy shops or alchemists from the mages guild and make as many potions out of them as i can, but only use if u have enough money to spend, took me about 100,000g to reach my lvl 72 alchemy.

Yeah, I know it's better to do potions. 1exp vs. 5 experience for the same amount of ingredients. I still want to know why eating those ingredients didn't make my alchemy go up.

I know reflect reflects back the damage, the question was is there a reason to choose resist over reflect, and also how an item with both would calculate damage.

100,000 gold? lol wow all i did was go around to hotels and ingredient shops and buy any ingredient that restored fatigue ( which there is a ton of ) for two gold each and at 76 alchemy i think i might have used around 10,000 gold at the most, anyways i just had to say that. Also about the brightness he didnt mean of the monited you pause the game and go to settings then video, or something like that and there is a bar which you can slide up and down to change the brightness. About the oblivion gate thing i dont think you could open them again, if you play on xbox 360 for sure you can.I dont play pc but if you do there may be a console code or whatever to open the gates again. for the thing about melee doing more damage than magic or ranged, i would say melee definately does way more damage that magic of course unless you spell stack which can be a lengthy process the more spells you use. But if you have high ranged , you can go in sneak mode and poison your arrow with many differant potions and can add up to the most damage you will ever hit so that can work pretty well for stronger monsters

Sliding the brightness up and down still doesn't help me any. That changes the brightness for the entire game. I just want something to make Night-eye not look so stupid.

The console commands for opening the gates are on the wiki page, I already know about them. My question was wondering how to do it properly so no more open up than are supposed to, and the map markers already there are part of them.

Well if you reflect back at an opponent who also has reflect, you will land up taking the full blast as your reflect is reflected back. But then it does at least help kill off any opponents that don't have reflect, whereas Resist won't make any diff to the opponent.

Have you considered Elemental shields instead, as these will also max out your basic weapons shielding (85% I think?)?

Are you using your 5 training sessions/level? Or do you not want to use trainers??

Ahh, I didn't know reflect worked like that. It just seemed like there was no point to "resist magic" when "reflect spell" did the exact same thing, just better. So resist magic would be better in the very rare times that an enemy has a reflect spell effect.

I have 103% reflect damage, so weapons I don't have to worry about. Although I do think I am going to change that, making some parts way too easy.

Yep, I am doing 5 training sessions/level, but I am not sure what that is in response too? I never asked a question about trainers.

After awhile it all boils down to how do you want to play your Player Character. There are a lot of good suggestions here tho!

About the oblivion gates: I don't know if there's a code that you can use on pc, but normally if you're completely done with the main quest your gate smashing days are over. The only way to be able to close them all is to begin a new game.

Wrong topic maybe? I have no idea what you are talking about.

Already went through this once. There are codes that let you close the rest after you finish the main quest. I know what they are, I don't know how to use them properly to get the effect I want.

I'm just trying to point out that u asked a few questions to begin with. A lot of good suggestions have been given. Tho, it really comes down to how do u want to roll with it? how do you want to preceed?

Lots of people can give lots of ideas! Once given that info, what do u want to do?

I still have no idea what you are talking about. No one except weka has actually answered anything yet, he answered half of my first question.

EDIT: Forgot ace answered my speechcraft/bribing question also

how do u not get it, he is saying alot of those questions are things you can decide on your own, if no one is helping why dont you just choose for yourself instead of seeing what everyone else says...

Why doesn't eating some ingredients increase alchemy? Does bribing increase speechcraft? What happens when I remove items from inventory? How do I make night-eye not look stupid? Why doesn't my armor skill go up anymore?

Not one of those is a question I can "decide" on. There is no decision involved, they are questions. There is no choice, there is just answers.

For the record, reflect only happens exactly once. Enemies casting at you will be reflected back exactly once. So Your spell cast on an enemy can be reflected back to you once. However, if your spell has already been reflected, reflect will no longer work, and you will have to rely on resistance. Reflect occurs first. It will reflect 35% of the full damage first.

I second ace's notion that bribing does not earn experience.

I believe it will cost 20000 to reach level 100. However, simply dividing 20000 by 85 is incorrect. The relationship isn't linear. So it may take 5 ingredients at level 1, however, it may take 400 at level 47.

You may want to look into some mods, or making your own mod to change nighteye.

Items removed from inventory are gone from the world.

100% reflect will halt all melee armor progression. Furthermore, spells will not help your armor progression. Only arrows will help you progress your armor.

@squiros

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a ton :D .

Just to clarify, those console codes will open up the gates I found after the main quest was over, and then the rest of the 50 will still be out there randomly?

Simply because you were saying about having difficulty in increasing levels, and it's not nesc a given that you already knew about trainers. AKA just trying to be helpful.
