Please follower? You'd look adorable in those!

I'm the kind of player that likes to role play, and often my characters like company. Some of these followers I like to involve in the roleplay, so I'll often don them in the same, or similarly themed suits of armour; but sometimes, I want them wearing a certain outfit that doesn't have an armour rating. For instance, I'd love it if I could get Ahtar into those Alik'r garments, or if I could fit a betrothed in somewhat more elegant attire for our big day. However I am but a lowly console gamer, and I do not have an array of console commands at my disposal to do so.

In the past I have noticed that, on seemingly spontaneous occasion a non-armoured follower has decided to take my fashion advice into account... but I'd like to be able to do this more consistently. Does anyone know of a way to force a follower to change from one non-armour item to another?

Unfortunately on console I don't think there is. Since there is no reason other than aesthetics for them to. I'm not sure, but the Oblivion/Morrowind method of giving them something with a name that starts with an a (if you've tried it with the Alikir garb then that may not work...) or enchant it so that it has a higher value than their current armor. (for clothes that is quite difficult.) But if neither of those work, then I'm afraid that there is nothing to be done about it, unless another 360 player has found a way.

I belive that the pickpocketing perk that lets you take equipped items works here.
Pickpocket their armour off them and give them clothing/ what you want them to wear.

Now I'm not sure if it works as I've never done it myself, but I do know some console players have claimed to get Serana into the Wedding Dress using this.

I had considered pick-pocketing as a possibility, but I figured that it was A) A long, long investment (I refuse to boost skills) and B) not 100% likely to work even if I spent that much time trying.

Thanks to whichever mod moved this thread for me, I switch between ESO and Skyrim general forums so often I forget there are other sections devoted to each game on here- Won't happen again :D

Man, I've had this issue too. Is it so much to ask that we look like the Skyrim version of Batman and Robin? I mean -- if we're gonna be a team -- shouldn't we have a uniform? But i digress... From all my investigation and question asking -- the issue seems to be that the follower chooses their garb based on armour rating. From my own testing I have not been able to get them to get out of their armour and into some clothes -- regardless of enchanting. From my understanding -- followers have stock armour that don't show up in their inventory -- I don't think you can pickpocket it off them.

On a console you can't do much to get to your goal. On a PC on the other hand there are a few mods that will allow you to set what your followers wear and when.

I use a mod call Amazing Follower Tweaks and I can set a outfit for adventuring out in the wilds, in town, and at home. Take Lydia for example, I can get her to wear a nice set of armor while out adventuring, a nice dress in town, and then something slinky while at home. She will automatically switch from one to the other depending on where we are at the time.

Yeah, I was big into consoles for a long time until I came across Morrowind and got a look at some of the mods you could use in that game. Wasn't long before I was back to PC full time. I have not owned a console since I had a PS2 and I had them all up until that point. If it was Nintendo, PlayStation, or the first Xbox I had it.

Oblivion and Skyrim just helped reinforce that choice. You could add Fallout to the list of games that just beg to be modded.

I am controlling myself because I would go ape-[&@%!]- mod-crazy, with all the things I have seen on Youtube.
I can change my followers clothes though, so I am happy about that. (no spcial mods obviously)

LOL, I did go mod crazy at first. I was trying out mods left and right all the way up to the point I broke my game by removing too many mods at one time and they left things behind that really messed things up. I had to wipe the game off the drive and start all over with a fresh install.

Now I am more choosey about what I download and install. I rarely make a change now. I know what I like and what I don't and have had a pretty stable mod list for the last 6 to 9 months. Every now and then I will go through the list and remove things I do not use any more. I even have a huge list of mods I only use on certain play throughs. Most of the time they just sit inactive on my mod manager program.
