Gladiator An Elder Scrolls Roleplay

Gladiator (A TES RP)

In the heart of the Imperial Empire lies two arenas. The Kvatch Arena. And the Imperical City one. Both work differently and have been rivals since their creation. The citizens of Cyrodiil love watching brave Gladiators do battle for their enjoyment and both arenas believe they have the best Gladiators. The year is 425 of the 3rd Era. You are a new Gladiator at the Kvatch Arena or the Imperial City Arena. You are nothing but a pit dog but will you rise through the ranks and earn honour, glory, fame and gold? Or just earn your freedom? Or will you get brutally killed and be forgotten by everyone?

Classes:

The Warrior

The Warrior uses melee combat as their main strength. They wield shields and swords. Or forgo the use of a shield and use two handed weapons such as claymores, battleaxes. Some dual wield weapons. Some use spears. If it can be wielded and can be used to hurt your foe in melee combat, they will use it. They do not focus on ranged attacks and most never bother to carry a bow or crossbow. Why use a bow when an axe can kill your enemy quicker? They use armour. Light or Heavy.

The Rogue

The Rogue prefers attacking from range and uses hit and run tatics. They rely on speed and agility to win their matches. They use dual wielding and bows. Some use crossbows. Some use the shadows but in the arena, there are no shadows. No places to hide. Their main strength is ranged combat and their speed. The fastest rogue can kill even the strongest of warriors.

The Mage

The Mage uses the arcane arts to win their battles and forgo the use of armour. They avoid getting up close and seek to destroy their enemy. They believe magic is the best offence and they are hard to kill. But if a warrior or rogue avoids their magic and gets close enough, they may find themselves being killed.

The BattleMage

The BattleMage uses both the arcane arts and the art of Melee. They use just 2 schools of magic and a shield and sword or axe or mace. They can use two handed weapons but most prefer using the shield and axe/sword/mace. But they are slow and their limited magic can work against them.

The Hybrid

The Hybrid is an odd class. Nothing is known about them other then the combinations. (Trying to keep it simple for myself. PM me what you would like to play as, class wise)

The Arena Rules
1. No looting the dead. Loot the dead is to dishonour the dead and those caught looting will be chucked out of the Arena.
2. No killing your foes before a match. You will be chucked out if you do so.
3. No betting on yourself. To do so results in a heavy fine.
4. Gladiators are paid by rank.
5. The Grand Champion can only be challenged by the worthy.
6.As part of your contract, you must stay in or near the arena. Leave the city and you will be heavily fined for breach of contract.

Kvatch Rules
1.Any Armour is allowed. Including Enchanted armour.
2. No enchanted weapons.
3. Combatants are responsible for their own weapons and armour.

Imperial City Rules
1.Your raiment must be worn. Remove it during a match and you will be disqualified.
2.Enchanted helmets and rings are allowed.

Why has no one thought of this! Can you reserve me a spot please? Sheet will be up Asap

Edit: here it is
Edit2: added appearance
Hidden:
Name: Emrys Windmane
Race: Nord
Age: 33
Sex: Male
Apperance: Tall, pale skin, long brown hair, but fits under his helm(think the Dovahkiin in all the trailers), stubble, but not full beard. Muscular
Arena: IC
Class: Battlemage
Weapons: “Winter Rend” enchanted (Ice enchantment) fine steel longsword
Armour: ICA raiment, Steel helm (Skyrim’s version), NO SHIELD
Clothes: Lower class clothes when not wearing armour
Schools of Magic: Destruction, Conjuration
Personality: Distrusting, quiet, quick to anger, always wary of anyone, likes to know who or what he’s fighting, general fear or wariness of the unknown
Backstory: Born in Windhelm, in the snow quarter (grey quarter in Skyrim), he grew up with no friends at all; even his family disowned him, forcing him to the streets. All because he was mage, born with natural magic, he ran to Winterhold and nurtured his talent. Constant attempts to harm or kill him in Windhelm have made him paranoid and without trust, after even his brother, the one man that had not betrayed him, turned away, disgusted at his flight to Winterhold. He wanted revenge, he wanted to be noticed. There was only one way amongst Nords to do this; Blood.
He was a Nord, a natural warrior, and trained by any swordsmen who would make time, he made for the arena of Windhelm. A few matches in, his old enemies, the people of the snow quarter, decided it was time to end him. After failing to disqualify him, on the basis that magic was dishonourable and cheating, they placed him against an impossible opponent; his own brother. The final traitor. An insane resolve possessed him during the fight, as his brother drew close, he speared him with a spear of ice, and another, and another, until there was little left of his brother. It was when he plucked the family heirloom; the blade Winter Rend, from the ground in front of the mess that was his brother, that it was decided that he had gone too far. Banished from Windhelm, he travelled Skyrim as a hireling and freelance bladesman. Eventually he wound his way across the province into Cyrodill, joining the Imperial City’s famed Arena.
Other information: Particularly efficient with Ice magic

I'm afraid I'm going to have to reject it. The Companions wouldn't chuck out someone for not killing. They would believe he was a fool and trolls tend to attack anything on sight. I can't allow all of those enchantments. The Fighters Guild is nearer to Skyrim and may even have guildhalls there during the 3rd Era.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to reject it again. The backstory is too short. What mercenary group was he a part of? Where did he get captured? Why the change of heart? Did he grow up in Cyrodiil? Where was the group based?

The slavers wouldn't sell a battlemage to an arena. They would have sold him to a very rich client due to the rare amount of battle mage slaves. You're also missing Appearance. I did forget to put it into the template character sheet but did add it in earlier.

EDIT: Emzi, Consider yourself accepted! EDIT#2:But I will need an appearance. It's my fault as i forgot to add that in last night but as long as you add it, it's still accepted. Only just noticed the lack of it.

After proving himself to them he became a White Wolf. Now part of the mercenary group the white wolves he was tasked to burn a village to the ground because the village was built on top of a powerful Aylied ruin that their employer wanted to ravage. He refused and his supposed brother-in-arms turned on him. Betrayed and defeated he was sold to slavers. In turn they sold him to a wealthy Imperial governor. In order to pay off his debts to a certain criminal faction he gave his newfound slave as payment. Seeing the value in him they cut the slave a deal. Win and go free. Lose and die. Now he must win so he can be free and seek his revenge.

I'm afraid I can't allow it. Aylieds ruins tend to be big and it would be very hard to build ontop of it. The Imperial Legion would have hunted down the people that destroyed the village and getting scratched by a werewolf would result him becoming one. Him deserting the Imperial Legion is acceptable but where? Where was he based? Cyrodiil? Morrowind? Slavers don't operate in Cyrodiil as it would be sucide. Morrowind, they can get away with it but an imperial Governor would be very unlikely to buy a slave due to slavery being illegal all over the empire apart from Morrowind. Wolf armour is the armour of the companions and they wouldn't sell it to people that are outside of it.

Not necessarily. The Legion probably wouldn't get involved in something as petty as that. I mean, look at
Spoiler:
The Blackwood Company. They slaughtered an entire village, but the Legion did nothing.
Also, if we're going by Bloodmoon rules, he could have drank a Cure Disease Potion within 3 days and be fine.

Yup! I think he's pretty good, just a few quick fixes to your liking TLD. I don't think his app is worthy of outright rejection. But you're dm, lol.

Also, I may join later! Just a heads up!

But I don't know that from the backstory and i have no idea where the character is from. True about the Blackwood company. Ayleid sites are very hard to build on unless it's buried but i would imagine that the Mages Guild would discover it before a governor.

Again, not necessarily. Think about the time those kids found a cave in Europe, full of ancient paintings. I'd imagine the same thing could happen in Tamriel.

Sorry if I'm nagging.

Hello all, this my first attempt at an RP, so if I'm doing something wrong can you please tell me?
Spoiler:
Name: Orange-Throat

Race: Argonian

Age: 20

Sex: Male

Apperance: Orange-Throat is thin and wiry. He is rather short, standing at 5 feet 2 inches. His underside is covered in tawny scales, while his back is light cyan and his throat is a bright orange. His unusally large eyes are also orange. On his head, he has a pair of curled horns. Strangely, he has two extra fingers on his right hand.
Arena: IC

Class: Rogue

Weapons: a steel katana and a short thrusting sword made from steel.

Armor: IC light raiment, leather helmet, spiked leather boots

Items: A set of blacksmith tools in a leather bag, an amulet of Talos, a sturdy walking stick

Personality: He has a disturbingly low self-preservation instinct. As a result, he likes to preform dangerous stunts just for thrills. Also, because of this he doesn't feel the value of life and has no qualms about killing. However he otherwise has a rather strong moral compass, and hates theft above all else. He also strongly hates quarreling and will cover his ears whenever a loud argument breaks out. Orange-Throat is mildly religious, practicing a mix of the Nine Divines and of Hist-worship past down to him by his parents. He cares too much about what others think about him, and loves glory. His favorite foods are oysters and slaughterfish. One of his less desirable traits is that he has trouble communicating, and sometimes his speech is nonsensical. He loves to run, jump, and swim, and often disappears into the wilderness for days. However, he is not very strong despite constant exercise.

Backstory: Orange-Throat was born on the seventh of Sun's Height in the year 405 of the 3rd era under the sign of the Serpent to a poor Argonian merchant and his wife living in Bravil. Orange-Throat was an active child, swimming often in Bravil's canals and in Niben Bay. He was quite a daredevil, and would often sneak past guards with his friends to get onto the battlements of the wall surrounding Bravil so they could make a dangerous and thrilling dive into the Niben. Once when he was seven, he missed his footing while jumping from the wall and nearly broke his knee when he fell into the water. This event stuck in his mind unlike other injuries he had received, for a broken knee would have ruined his dream. For Orange-Throat had a dream. A dream of blood, guts, and glory. A dream of becoming an Arena combatant! Orange-Throat first learned of the arena when he went to the Imperial City Arena for his seventh birthday. His father had brought him along on a business trip to the Imperial City at the time, and he was a compulsive gambler so he took the opportunity to bring Orange-Throat to the arena. What Orange-Throat saw there changed his life forever. For months afterward, he would dream about how the two combatants bravely had crossed swords, about how the combatant from the yellow team had nearly been defeated, but at the last second out smarted his opponent by pulling a dagger from his boot, about how the yellow team combatant had stood victorious, his arms outstretched and covered in blood and entrails, as cheers and gold coins rained down upon him. Orange-Throat had already decided his life's course by the end of the match and promptly told his father so. Of course his father was dismayed by the idea, probably mostly because he had just lost his entire profits from the trip on the blue team combatant. Orange-Throat's mother was a skooma addict, and his parents would often violently quarrel over lost money. Because of this, Orange-Throat detested skooma, gambling, and any verbal form of fighting. When he was 12, Orange-Throat convinced his father to apprentice him to the local blacksmith. Since there was no way his father would allow him to train to fight, Orange-Throat had come up with a plan. During the day he would train under the blacksmith and at night he would get some of his friends who had been apprenticed to the fighters guild to train him in return for repairing their equipment. During his apprenticeship, he became quite skilled using two blades, using his speed and agility to his advantage. So he did for seven long years, until his apprenticeship was finally over and he became a jorneyman smith. Before he left Bravil, he painstakingly forged the two best blades he possibly could, producing a fine katana and shortsword, both made of steel. After he finished perfecting these weapons, he packed his tools and headed up the road to the Imperial City...

Spoiler:
Name: Túrin Lórindol
Race: Redguard (Redguard Mother, Bosmer Father)
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Appearance: Standing at about 6'3, Túrin stands with a slim, but athletic build. His skin is dark, though a bit lighter than most Redguards (maybe due to his mixed heritage). His hair is fixed into rows that run from front to back of his head and he has a full, but short, beard. His eyes are a cold, grey-blue color.
Arena: Imperial City Arena
Class: Rogue
Weapons: Dual Elven Shortswords
Armour: Arena Light Raiment
Clothes: Lower Class Clothing
Items: Ebony Band Ring with his Surname engraved into it. It belong to his father. Really only thing of worth that belongs to Túrin. Has an speed enchantment.
Personality: As a result of Túrin having seen what he's seen and been through what he's been through, he has become somewhat cynical. The fire that was in his eyes as a teenager has gone cold. He sees no joy in life and as a result always fights, and generally functions, as though he is already dead. He fights now only for his freedom and hopes to one day find retribution for his deceased family. He is always ready to greet death himself, though something inside of him keeps him fighting for his life.

Backstory: Túrin was born near Kvatch, the firstborn child of a Redguard mother and a Bosmer father. His family owned a medium-class home in the woods near Kvatch. They often went into the city for supplies and to socialize. His mother was and alchemist and hunter, while his father fought in the Kvatch arena. When he was 7 years old, his brother Jacen was born. Though the entire family was close, both children seemed to favor one parent or the other. Túrin was always close to his father, while Jace always seemed to favor his mother. Eventually, their father retired from the arena, seeing that too much was at stake if he died.
He trained Túrin in use of the blades that he used himself in the Arena. Jacen learned to hunt and helped put food on the table for the family. The family stayed close and went to Kvatch at least once weekly to the Chapel of Akatosh. When Túrin was 20 years of age, everything changed. His home was sacked by Bandits. They were robbed of all their belongings. Their parents at first put up a struggle, but were subdued then executed right before Túrin and Jacen. The boys were taken captive and kept as slaves. As slaved they were beaten and neglected. When Túrin was 26 and Jacen was 19, they were placed in the Imperial City Arena to fight as slaves for their "freedom", though it never came. Though they were treated better than mere slaved, and their "masters" often tried to seem kind towards them, it was obviously fake kindness. They were still looked down upon. Túrin was most angry, as his brother was not a fighter, but a hunter. He knew he would die quickly, as he did. He died in his second match ever actually, just getting lucky in the first one.
Túrin took his brother's dead very hard, and for a bit, he refused to fight. For such behavior, he was beaten harshly, but then brought before his master, who gave him "gifts." He was given his father blades and an ebony ring that also belonged to his father. According to his master, who had oddly enough kept these items over the years, gave them to Túrin as a constant reminder of what happened to his family, in hopes it would anger him and drive him to kill. Though it did not. Túrin fought only because he was biding his time until he could find a way out.

Hey, I'm new to the site and was interested in getting involved in some roleplays. So here goes....
Spoiler:
Name: Veldryn Andil
Race: Dunmer
Age 32 (human early 20s)
Sex: Male
Appearance: Roughy 5'11 tall, Veldryn is in good shape with a lean, muscular, body. He has the standard dunmer grey skin and crimson of eyes of most of his kinsmen. He wears his ash black hair in a shoulder length mane. His face has a few small scars across his face, and his nose is crooked from being broken often. Before battles he paints a red hand in the center of his forehead.
Arena: IC
Class: Warrior
Weapons: Veldryn wields a one-handed steel longsword with a stamina drain enchantment. He has no shield or other weapon, leaving his other arm for support and balance. He always keeps two spare daggers.
Armor: Can there be a medium raiment? If not light raiment. He has one ring which enhances his strength and endurance.
Clothes: Simple lower class clothing
Personality: Grim and aloof. Veldryn will happily accept solitude over spending time with others he doesn't know well. He is slow to make friends and often will not try based upon first impressions. He can be harsh and unsociable with those doesn't or doesn't want to know. He respects those with skill at arms and will be friendlier towards them, on the contrary he despises mages, except those who practice restoration. He doesn't mind battlemages depending on how magically inclined they are. Despite being hard to get to know, if you have his respect and/or friendship, he will be a loyal and worthy companion. He is slow to make friends, but also slow to lose them. He is generally law abiding, following the basic moral principles of no murder, theft from honest people, etc. However if he feels a rule is unjust and/or inconvenient he will not hesitate to break it. In combat he is fierce and shows no remorse. He believes any hesitation could get you killed. The thrill and rush of battle is what he lives for, having been ingrained in him over years of training.

Backstory: Born on the 13th of last seed, 3e 393. Veldryn was son of two House Redoran retainers, from a young age Veldryn was pushed by his parents to achieve greatness. They wanted him to rise through the ranks of the house and make their family name famous. Initially they planned for him to be a great politician and his father spent all his coin of the finest tutors he could afford, however Veldryn struggled with the rigorous academic work and clearly favored the combat training that was standard for all Redoran youths. His parents noticed his prowess in training and sparring with other dunmer his age, and decided the only way for him to rise through the ranks would be as a great warrior. They hired a redguard veteran to train him, the old redguard, named Ahtar, trained him in the art of swordsmanship. Soon Veldryn was very skilled in the redguard art of swordsmanship, although he preferred a longsword to the traditional scimitar. Aged 20 his training with Ahtar ended, when Ahtar died of an unexpected illness. Veldryn had never connected with Ahtar and as such was unaffected by his death, this was when he learnt the harsh truth of death, and as such, he became less worried about killing a man/mer/beast race. Soon after his joined the fighter's guild, in order to gain more experience. Spending his time between the house and the guild lead to some questioning his allegiance. Veldryn had few friends within the house or the guild, for various reasons, he became a bit of a loner, valuing what friends he had. When his best friend, Mavrys died in a duel with the son of a councillor over the hand of a woman, Veldryn was infuriated and slew the councillor's son. The act was considered murder, but the councillor whose son he had killed decided to exile him instead of have him executed. Veldryn left morrowind and came straight to Cyrodil, he had planned to join the cyrodilic branch of the FG, however news of his acts had spread to the fighter's guild in Ald'ruhn and as such he was banned from the guild for life. Heading to the IC for mercenary work, he found the Arena. He immediately joined, the arena was a great place to prove himself, and he lived for the rush of battle and the glory that ensued.

Welcome to UESP!

I'm afraid I can't allow the ring as it's overpowered. There is only heavy and light armour as i'm going by Oblivion.
I'll allow the staminia drain enchantment but i'll be nerfing it heavily to try and balance it out. I can't accept the sheet as it is but it just needs a little bit of tweaking.

EDIT:Ignore the bit about the clothes. Forgot that i've allowed it with another character and will allow it as it is. Just the ring that needs sorting out.

Ok, fair enough...

I changed my mind on the clothes anyway, so I'll include that in this sheet.

Armor: Light raiment, plain silver ring that provides a slight boost of energy when he is fatigued.
Clothes: (Changed) Dunmer clothes such as those see in the dragonborn expansion for Skyrim (long shirt of cloth generally in red, blue, beige etc, belt around the waist, braies that reach down just pass the knee, no hood.)

I have a few questions about the combat. Are the outcomes completely random (as decided by a dice roll)? Will we be fighting just each other or will there also be NPCs that we fight? Are all fights to the death or can we surrender? Also, will I be able to upgrade my equipment at some point?

I'll be deciding the outcomes of the actions. There will be PC matches and NPC ones. You'll get a chance to upgrade your equipment but it'll depend on how much gold you have. It's a fight to the death.
