Romlyn Dreth (and other marriage babble)

So I probably overthink a lot of the choices I make in Skyrim, which is too bad, ahaha!
Anyways, whenever I play, I generally try to have it so maybe elves marry other elves, and my humans marry other humans, etc - mostly, this is due to the fact that elves can outlive humans by quite a bit, and seeing my character outlive their spouse (or vice virsa) just seems to sad. D:
Since I normally play as a female Dunmer and Altmer (and generally speaking, I prefer to make my characters marry the opposite sex - I don't really know why... though if I could marry Faralda or Anska most if not all of my female characters would probably marry them because they're cool as heck), it sort of makes things a little bit... difficult. Normally for an elven guy I have my guys marry either Jenessa or Brelyna whenever I do get around to it, but I'm always so /conflicted/ on who my female characters should marry. There is only four dunmer marriage candidates in the whole game: Arthis, Sondas Drenim, Romlyn Dreth, and Revyn Sadri.
My issue with Sondas is he always seems to die by the time I get to his town, and as far as Sadri is concerned... I don't know, I guess I really, really don't care for his voiceset. That leaves Athis and Romlyn. Athis is cool, but since I really hate his armor and I never have the patience to level up my pickpocket, I don't know if I'll ever really be able to get to having him wear a different kind of outfit. I really dislike what he haves on -- I don't know if seeing his chest hair on a dunmer is it or if it is just the outfit's design, but it just really bothers me.
So that leaves Romlyn Dreth.
Now, I think Romlyn is actually pretty funny - he's apparently descended from Valen Dreth (I don't think it is confirmed, though I assume Valen would either be his dad or grandfather), who is the guy that taunts you at the beginning of the game in Oblivion. I just thought it was horribly ironic, since my CoC is a female dunmer (that Valen kind-of-sort-of flirts with, does a bad job, and then totally ruins it), and for some of my Dunmer characters, I like to pretend they're related to her (be it indirect, directly, or just part of the same family in general). So that part gets Romlyn a few brownie points.
However, my main issue of the matter is, after doing his quest, he apparently contains you sell Black-Briar mead - and it always makes me feel weird. It's like I could imagine my dovahkiin walking home one day, after a big day of traveling, to find Romlyn murdered by some of Maven's lackeys. As a general rule my characters to tend to eventually join the Thieves Guild, and some join/destroy the Dark Brotherhood.
...But at the same time, if Maven was to find out, I just get a horrible feeling - even if he is your spouse, and you're her contacts. Though I have to wonder how he is /still/ getting that mead.
Anyways, going from a roleplaying perspective - do you think my characters would be paranoid for thinking that way, or would it be pretty understandable? :0 Alternatively, is there someone else I'm overlooking? Sadly I'm on the xbox 360, otherwise I'd just console someone or make a spouse. >___>
Edit: Alternatively -- from anyone who has married Sadri - does his voice... warm up a bit? It just seems a bit... stuffed up to me, I guess, that I don't particularly care for it. If he gets a bit warmer/sweeter I might consider him again, though. (Originally before I met him, I think he was actually one of my first choices XD).
