just last weekend, as i was getting ready to play,
i click on the PS3. starts up fine,
then it turned green, yellow, coughed 3 times (beeps) and turn red. :(

after 8 fun filled years, the PS3 fatboy, expired.

losing all play times of 700 hrs on Oblivion and 400 on Skyrim.
plus saves from other games.

found a neat trick to get the C/D out, so didn't have to bust it up. only took about 10 seconds to recover it,
before watching it die again.

but life is now flowing again, with a new PS3 slim,
sucks that you can't play PS2's on this one.

Isn't there a way to transfer the external hard drive over to your new console, or get a USB drive that has enough space for all of your saves, to transfer it over?

from what i know, you can not, exchange hard-drives, if you do, you have to re-format it.

i sure you can on the 2nd part, but never looked into it, so not sure you can, once it dies. IDK

My 3½ year fat died on Halloween. I gave it too many installations in one go, one of which took over an hour, then I gave it a system update ;)

I removed the Disc and Hard-Drive afterwards, not sure if I can use that thing though O_o

Makes me wonder when my old-style X360 gets sent off to the farm. From what I heard tell, you can physically rip the guts out of the old HDD module and then stick that shiny doo-hickey into the innards of the newer slim models.
