The Goshdarn Batman Thread

Seeing as we don't have a Batman thread, the Dovah believes that there should be one. His favourite superhero is Batman.

The Dovah watched Batman Begins and Batman:The Dark Knight. Both are excellent. He has also seen DKR and that too is excellent. He does wish that the joker had more "jokes" but the Dark Knight version of the Joker is excellent.

I discoved Batman through the animated series that aired on TV when I was a kid. I have the whole series on DVD now. It's really good and I recommend you watch it if you haven't already. I also have some graphic novels, including "Batman Year One", "The Dark Knight Returns" and "The Killing Joke". Each of these are a must-read for a Batman-fan. The Chris Nolan-movies are awesome, too.

NANANANANA.

Watched all 3 Nolan films and they all are easily in my top 15 movies of all time.

Watched the Burton's version, too. It was Ok.

The Nolan and Burton films are the best batman films although Batman Returns didn't really focus that much on Batman. Bloody hate Batman and Robin as that is not Batman! Batman is meant to be a dark not bloody light!

I've played Batman:Arkham Ayslum and Arkham City which resulted in me getting into the Dark Knight.

I like the animated series as well, I used to watch it in Arabic.
haha, you guys have to hear the Arabic theme song, I think it sounds hilarious when you compare it to the original, even if you don't understand it:

Dat theme...

Batman Begins was good. The Dark Knight was masterful. Dark Knight Rises was a stupid cash grab.

The animated series was amazing. The original one, not the Brave and the Bold crap they have now.

Batman is my second favorite superhero behind Superman.

I've seen an advert for Batman:Brave and the bold. Looks bloody crap and just no.

I think Nolan may have always wanted to a trilogy and had planned on using the Joker but due to Heath's death, he had to take out the joker. That said, Dark Knight Rises does have some questions if it shares the same universe as Superman. It is not implied to do so.

I've seen a few episodes of B:TAS and it is excellent.

But you have to admit Brave and the Bold has the most awesome incarnation of Aquaman. He's voiced by Joe DiMaggio for god's sake.

The franchise has never been as good as it was in the Adam West era. They nearly managed to get it back on track when they cast Ahnold as Mr Freeze in Batman & Robin but then they wrecked it by making the rest of the film completely dire.

On the subject of animated series. I never saw the Brave and the Bold. I did watch Batman Beyond. Hated the series at first but it grew on me very quickly.

The thing i hate about Bale's Batman is the forced voice. It comes off as forced and unnatural. Nolan should have allowed Bale to do his own Batman voice instead of modifying it after everything was filmed. Batman Begins had a naturalish voice for Batman. But Conroy is a better Batman because, well, he is the Batman and he comes off as a natural one. That and whenever he voices Batman, Batman seems very calm. That and Batman should scare criminals just by his very presence.

The terrible thing about Bale's Batman is that he apparently talks to himself in that voice when he's in the costume.
Spoiler:
In The Dark Knight Rises he has just rescued Catwoman and turns around to find she has disappeared, leaving him alone. He then says, "So that's what that feels like." IN THE BATMAN VOICE! What the heck!? He's all alone! Why would he use that voice then?

I do like the Conroy voice the best. Batman in TAS has that "walk softly and carry a big stick" thing going for him; the "Wayne Enterprises Voice-Engraveling Technology"(to quote RiffTrax) in Nolan's is kind of silly.

Well, he does dress up as a Bat every night. ;)

But he should have just used his normal voice. That and
Spoiler:
I think he actually kills a few people in DKR. In fact, i think he killed in TDK. It's not shown but the chances of death would be fairly high after being shot at by the Bat and having a truck get flipped over.
Conroy's Batman comes off as a very calm one and knows that he can intimidate anyone just be landing in front of them. Bale's tries too hard to be intimidating. He is Batman. Every thug is scared of him so he doesn't need to put any effort in his voice to be more intimidating.

Okay, this has been bothering me every day I have logged on here since this thread went up. With all due respect, please change the title.

Some of us don't like seeing profanity every time we come to this part of the board

So Christain Bale has annouced that he won't be Batman in any potential Batman films. He was a decent one but Nolan cocked it up by modifying his voice thus coming off as forced. The thing i didn't like about his Batman was that he let his emotions get the better of him during the films instead of being the calm Batman.

Having read most of the last 25 years of Batman comics, he often isn't as calm and collected as he want's everyone to think he is. He's full of emotion. After all, in his mind, he's still that scared 8 year old boy who watched his parents get gunned down.

I prefer him as being emotional, than the ridiculous ''Calm-against-all-odds'' superhero.

still, i don't like Bale's Batman. he was ok as Bruce Wayne, but i didn't like his Batman.

If you ever feel scared of anything which challenges you in the path ahead, you will win if you just be yourself.

Unless you can become Batman. Always be Batman.

Until you can imagine yourself as Steve McQueen being Batman.

I've only played the Arkham games and he is very calm. Apart from a few parts but even then, he is mostly calm. I think BAO will feature a more angry, more emotional, more deadly Batman that doesn't just smash your face in. He just breaks every bone in your body and this is not different from the other types of Batman is it?

We were trying to remember who the first Batman in the movies was...then it came to me, Michael Burton. From Beetlejuice to Batman. I thought he was ok...Christian Bale is much better though.

@Hrolf, you're correct. In the comics that's all he thought about and wanted vengeance for. Bruce Wayne is tuned in to his emo side for sure.
