Changing the number of books...

I created a book in the Morrowind Construction Set, but I can't seem to change the number of books once I've made the book. It stays at zero, so I can't add any to the game. Also, next to the 0 is a *. It looks like: 0*
Any ideas? :/
Edit: Fixed it. I totally forgot you drag and drop items into the world.

How many Books are there total in the game, without mods?

I believe the * means that object has been edited in someway.

It does, but it only shows those for the mod that is currently marked as the active mod in the CS (the one you are editing).
