Nah, it's been confirmed for a while now. All I care about is that it's a spinoff and isn't going to so much as touch the main canon.

To be fair, as a children's cartoon aimed at younger girls, what canon is there really to be messed with?

Well for instance, there have been all kinds of MLP: FiM toys, created by Hasbro, that are never seen in the show.

The same happens with Spider-man and Iron Man toys. Heck, any TV show or movie with toys has variations of the characters or new characters that are never seen in any form but the toys.

Exactly. There's toys, and then there's the show, and thankfully the writers have managed to keep them separate entities.

Voted for the last option. No regrets.
I'm very surprised to see them making another series along those lines.

It's not a series, it's a theatrical movie. And as I said before, feel free not to post in threads that don't interest you.

A movie?!
I do wonder if they are catering to their original fans, or these bronies. :p

Probably a bit of both, like always.

Voted option five. It could be good... Well, it's not going to be good but I'll probably still watch it some time so I'll have something new to complain about.

Meant to give the trailer a chance yesterday, but my internet was spazzing out.
I am anxious, but I will not condemn anything yet. I read somewhere that the trailer actually, in comparison to initial backlash, showed promise.
I won't watch in cinema, though, because it will NEVER show over here. Might watch it, might not. I am sceptical, but carefully optimistic.

Classy.
At any rate, Aside form the prom story line and the love interest, We can't really be sure of the traditional high school stuff.
A lot if it might just be Twilight adjusting to be human.
I still don't have a lot of faith in this idea, but really, Who knows?

Likely Hasbro saw an opening to cater to a slightly older, more general girl demographic that would also rope in some of the brony community
Somehow it has the feel of encroaching on the barbie/bratz territory, behemoths in their own right in terms of toy sales and a logical step for hasbro to want to take to get their mitts on
Regardless, no opinion otherwise and not likely to watch (Except maybe to see if Big Mac or Discord have counterparts)

[&@%!], never even thought of that.
If big mac or Discord make an appearence, I'd definately look those up.

Frost Mage wrote:Another big misconception about cloppers is that they clop to the show. (I know you know this, Doros. Inb4 "What's that supposed to mean?") Protip: They don't. They get attracted to the personalities of the characters in the show, and thus have sexual fantasies about them. Actually it's a lot deeper than most [&@%!], because it's more based on personalities you find attractive.
So, what you're saying is... cloppers watch it for the plot.

I don't know what you're talking about.
See, that's one of the problems I have with Equestria Girls. I don't think I'll like the plot. For one thing, human plots aren't as nice as pony plots. Pony plots are stronger, more robust. More filled out, you know? And while highschool plots are a lot of fun to watch, and you don't feel as guilty watching them as you do when you're watching little schoolgirl plots (Cutie Mark Crusaders, I'm looking at you), I prefer the more mature, college-coed plots you see in FiM.
Still, Human Rainbow looks pretty athletic, so I bet she's got a nice plot. I like energetic plots, action-packed and exciting, that can bounce around for hours and leave you sweating.

What? What's wrong with liking the plot? A firmly built, well-rounded plot, with lots of twists and curves?
A good tail needs a good plot to carry it along, as my creative writing teacher used to say.
Woops! "Tale". Silly me, what an odd typo.

Your post made me have to check to see if I was still on /mlp/ or not. Nope, I'm hearing talk about plot on the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages. What the ever-loving [&@%!]?
For something a little more on-topic, I might watch My Little Pony: Equestria Girls if I ever am presented with the opportunity of watching it. I would like to see how Twilight Sparkle handles being a human, and the conversation present on /mlp/ has gotten me a little more interested in this spinoff than I was after having heard about it just recently. You just won't catch me in the theaters watching this because I am unable to handle crowded places on the account of my Asperger's, Tourettes and PTSD. Plus, I'm kind of below the poverty line financially and a trip to the theaters would cost me about as much as a week's worth of groceries.

Why would this be surprising? As fans of RPGs, we're naturally very interested in storylines. Especially when the storyline involves magic and adventure, y'know, all that exciting stuff.
