The only series I like more than The Elder Scrolls is Hideo Kojima's most renown work, Metal Gear Solid.
As a very long time fan of the series I'm wondering if there are any other Metal Gear fans among us!

I've liked Metal Gear Solid since I was a kid. Played it back on the Playstation 1 then got 2 when it came out. Yeah, that was kind of a disappointment. Metal Gear Solid 3 is probably my favourite game in the series. Haven't played any of them in while. A thing to keep in mind about the series is that the games are kind of stupid. The plot is just ridiculous. I mean the plot of MGS 4 is that you are a super soldier who is a clone and made to grow old faster while your evil British brother who is also a clone and dead has taken over the body of a man who had his arm chopped off by a robot ninja and said man using your brother's arm as a replacement.
I like Foxhound and the Fox unit. All the neat powers they have. If anyone were ever run and RPG based off the series that's what it should be set around. That's why I thought meeting more people like that and being able to form a team and play as them was so cool in Portable Ops.
Anyhow, want to see a video of a guy who really doesn't know how to play Metal Gear Solid?
He's an idiot and an [&@%!]. You've been warned.

I'll check out those videos.
Yes, the story setting and etc. get incredibly ridiculous as the series goes on, but the way the story is told keeps me hooked. The characters were easily believable, and I was in pieces at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4.

Before we bought Metal Gear Solid, my brother rented it out. He got to the point where you have to call Meryl. Problem is the box you get when you rent a game isn't the game's actual box. So he had to go through every frequency one by one to call her.
I loved Shadow Moses in Metal Gear Solid 4. It's great when you got to the part in where you were told to change disk.

I liked MGS 2: Sons of Liberty ALOT. I recently bought MGS 3: Snake Eater and I just don't seem to like it as much.
I have the subsistence version of 3, but quite frankly, I find the game hard
Regardless, I like the story of MGS very much. It really is incredible.

I'm glad to hear it!

My first Metal Gear Solid game was Metal Gear Solid 2, and I also liked it a little more than MGS3. I think a lot of people found the lack of radar difficult.

That is not the case.
Liquid was in control of Ocelot only when the arm was with him, once Ocelot fitted himself with the prostethic arm, his psyche went back to normal. And then the therapy and nanomachines came. Liquid was never in control of Ocelot in MGS4. It was just a ruse. Ocelot mind "believed" he was Liquid, not Liquid was in control of Ocelot mind.

I really enjoyed the first 3 games on console (I would say the 3rd being my favourite). I couldn't really get into the 4th though.
IMO a really great series, I loved the story and some really great characters.

I love MGS and currently own all of the main games as well as PW. MGS3 is my favourite entry into the franchise and it is the best in my opinion. It's not too long, not too short and has the best MGS theme song. Peace Walker is erm.. well, it's good but the mission layout killed my enjoyment for it as it ruined the flow for me. Haven't even bothered to continue past Peace Walker(if you've played PW, you know what i mean) but i am aware it was a PSP game so i'm willing to give it some slack. That said, i should have expected it when i got the HD collection. MGS2 is the weakest entry imo but still is excellent. MGS1 is a classic and MGS4 tied up most loose ends. But the 1hour plus ending was too long. Does a decent job of tying up the loose ends but endings should never be an hour long or more.
Am looking forward to MGS5 and Kiefer is doing a good job. He sounds like a naturally older Big Boss with his own spin on it. I suspect Hayter may have ended up either using Old Snake's voice and modifying it or just continued using the PW version. That said, it's going to feel odd playing a MGS without Hayter voicing Snake but i suspect he is voicing him in the Ground Zero part of the game and Kojima is just trolling everyone(as usual).

Agreed. I think Kojima won't ever stop making MGS titles, and eventually I think Hayter will play a younger Solid Snake in perhaps a remake of the MSX titles.

Kojima plans on leaving the franchise. MGS5 is being developed by his team that have developed all of the numbered games and a new team as he plans to hand over the reigns to them as he doesn't want to keep doing MGS games forever. I don't blame him as he does have a lot of potential to give us a fair amount of excellent games. Hopefully, the new team won't cock up MGS after he has left.
I think Hayter will voice Big Boss during the ground zero part as it makes sense due to it taking place a few hours or days after Peace Walker. The transition between him and Schiefer would be natural due to the coma that lasts 9 years. But if he is not involved at all, that will be very sad and MGS5 won't feel right. You can't have MGS without Hayter! Also, Kojima flat out refuses to remake any of the MGS games as he feels it represents the time it was developed in.

You won't believe how much I've said that.

However, Hideo said he'd stop making MGS games after the MGS2. And MGS3. And MGS4.

True but he seems to be handing over the reigns as MGS5 is a mixture of his team and the new team as he just wants to move on. I think he has accepted that MGS won't be over and is guiding the new team with MGS5 to ensure the future is in safe hands after he and his team leave the franchise.

Maybe so.
I know he'll do great things outside of MGS.
