Cyrodiil Confessions

Whenever I start a new Oblivion game I rush to Kvatch (doing Recommendation questions along the way) because...I !@*%ing love closing Oblivion gates. I am addicted to them, it's one of my favorite things in the game. I roam the countryside looking for them. I find them weirdly relaxing - good loot, vaguely interesting enemies, but similar enough that I basically know what I'm going to get. And I find it so satisfying to close them. And I lovelovelove Sigil Stones. I like them *way* more than dragon fights in Skyrim. In fact, I have never even finished the main quest because I didn't want the gates to disappear before I did them all. But I have never admitted this before. I know what people will think. ::hangs head::

Oblivion confessions / unpopular opinions?

That crazy cheese kahjiit, well on every new character I always make a beeline for her village and take all of her cheese, but not to keep, I hurl the valuable collection of cheeses into the kvatch oblivion gate then close it, damning the cheeses to oblivion. I know I started doing it for a reason, but I can't quite remember now, maybe I should apologise for this mindless cheese destruction.

i cant finish the Main Quest until i've explored the entire map. and i will not start Shivering Isles unless i have finished the main quest!!!

so despite the fact i want to play it, i cant bring myself to start it unless i do it this way.
still fun, though.

I already decided that this character won't really start KotN until the MQ is over. I figure after delving into hell so many times, she'll need a pilgrimage to cleanse herself.

i want to do that the other way around, with the reason being : i want my statue to wear KotN armour, can it ?

I always go to do the Skeleton Key quest as soon as my character is high enough level, because I can't stand the lockpicking mechanic in Oblivion.

I spend more time jumping around the coldisac in Anvil than doing the main quest.

-I always start by going through Vilverin
-I always have to talk to everyone in the Kvatch refugee camp both before and after closing the gate there.
-I always postpone the 'battle for Castle Kvatch' quest until the 'allies for Bruma' sequence. I know it seems kind of odd, and makes more sense to do it right away, but oh well..
-I always to the 'settlement quests' (the potato bread, the lost journal in the dungeon, shadowbanish wine etc) after the main quest

I've had many characters but every time I've made a new one I played thru the sewers, and never started at the autosave at the end of them.

Closing Oblivion Gates fun? That's new to me. They are too boring.

Yeah. I find the Oblivion planes the absolute most tedious part of the entire game.

i like them. i used to be scared of them when i was young, and now i enjoy going through them.

i suppose it would be good if they had a few more different types, it is a bit silly when you go through the same area 3 times :P

I strongly disliked closing Oblivion gates, super tedious for me.
I hoard books. Even parchments, I'm obsessed with reading them; more so than reading real books..

I always end up deleting that save..
Had my Skyrim one on the carriage in Helgen for ages though.

I don't hate Oblivion gates but a lot of the time I end up abusing quicksave/load to get a decent Sigil Stone. :$

Me too! :D
They always made me angry. :p
I'd place one foot on their ship, and the rest is history.

If I start a character with the initial idea to do a stealth/thief playthrough, I will not ever use anything more than an enchanted steel dagger and some robes. Ever.

Also I never do anything until I'm the new Grand Champion of the Arena.

Never even set foot inside The Arena.

Because of the focus on the poor combat?
I found it a great way to earn gold for my first house.

Oblivion has great combat.

the Arena is one of the best faction questlines, you are missing out OoogyBoogyMan .

I found the Arena questline bland.
I admit to spawning deadra into cities because I like to watch the guards fight them. :3
