That's what it sounds like. But apparently there will be more patches.

Ah, what a let down! I would have loved to see some new DLCs, even if just smaller, minor content.

It is nice to see they'll be working on some updates and fixes, in the very least. Still, color me disappointed. Thanks for sharing.

Well, as upsetting as it is, i take it as a positive.
Allocating the whole team to their next project (hopefully fallout 4) will benefit its development, which means a shorter wait until its release.

So even though they are moving on, i'm eagerly awaiting their next game.

The devs originally suggested they would be releasing the dlc in the same sort of format as oblivion, some smaller things and one or two big chunks.. imo a SI scale dlc wouldbe quite reasonable, i believe we are justified in being extremely p1ssed off with them right now

it sounds to me like something has happened - perhaps the Thalmor dlc has been delayed and due to the next gen console coming they just pulled the plug on it

[&@%!] it

[&@%!] it anyway

this might be the shortest lived TES game, i was really looking forward to the dlc whatever it was, and was prepared to wait

Honestly, it would have surprised me if there had been any more DLCs for Skyrim. I was already surprised that so many people expected that there will be more. Morrowind had 2 big ones (Tribunal & Bloodmoon). Oblivion had 2 big ones (Knights of the Nine & Shivering Isles). Why should Skyrim get more than 2?

@Mattbott:
I don't see any justification in being [&@%!] off with them. At least not about DLC content or lack thereof. A SI scale DLC? Have you played Dragonborn? There you go.

Now, let's wait another 3-4 years and hope the next TES game will be more of an RPG again than Skyrim was. I'm not getting my hopes up, though.

This is just.. Wow. Skyrim is definetly not going to be played by me now. Collect dust. You've earned it.

Guess they are working on the next Beth title to be dumbed down. Don't see why they need a whole team to make another inferior product.

I'm happy with what I got. Do I care if there are no more DLCs? No.
Bethesda does what Bethesda does. Their decisions aren't going to make me angry, and I'm certainly still going to sit back and enjoy Skyrim to the extent my PC will let me.

Perhaps it's just my low expectations of game/software companies these days, but this really doesn't surprise me at all. I wasn't expecting any more DLCs (I was actually getting a bit of a chuckle out of those Redguard rumors) and, like I have said, I'm happy with what I've got.

Dude... They aren't working on a ES title for another half decade or so, no need to be negative about a game that hasn't even got past the concept stage yet.

I'd say Dawnguard is a slightly bigger DLC than KotN.
Dragonborn is a new, hefty piece of land with lots of new crap to explore ala SI.
And then there's Hearthfire, which gives you 3 fully customizable homes.

Skyrim is already on par with Oblivion DLC-wise.

Nanza is right, Skyrim has just as much DLC as Oblivion had.

I see this as a go-ahead sign for Modders to ramp up production on their big-scale projects. Knowing that there won't be any more additions to the landscape is kind of the "alright, now go play" announcement.

Spoiler:
So the Dovahkiin ends up as Mora's champion?! That is a crap way to end his/her story.
I'm disappointed that they've stopped their DLC plans but i'm hoping that the next thing they are working on is either a massive expansion or Fallout 4(Which has an original plot and not recycles the plot from the first 2 games).

Yaaaaay, a new game. Also wow, that blog post was hella cheesy.

Aaaand, you're all going to stop playing Skyrim because the devs want to make new games instead of even more DLC? Wow, talk about good judgement :y

edit: also consider that there may be another small-scale DLC coming out that's been wrapped up already. Ya know, these things are planned. They don't just do whatever they want whenever they want.

There's no reason for them saying this now, besides that they were working in one more DLC. If they weren't doing new DLC why don't they said this soon after the release of DB?

Yeah, I definately won't be playing much now. I've already done everything there is to do and was waiting for the next dlc. So much for that.

I'm pretty mixed about this announcement. I wasn't expecting this news so soon. I could have sworn that they mentioned working on another "big" expansion plus a few little ones, but that was probably planned and never fleshed out. While it is disappointing, I'm glad they're moving on to their next project. I won't be ending my adventures in Skyrim for a long time, since I've yet to finish Dawnguard and Dragonborn, and even the main quest! Still a lot to do in the game!

This has to be the most disappointing thing I've heard today. I was waiting for the next DLC to arrive so I could get all the achievements again, but it looks like I'll never touch the game again since I got all the achievements for good now. I can't even play it for fun anymore since they also patched Mora's book. Way to go Bethy, drop the news that you are no longer going to release DLCs right after you patch the best exploit in the game. Seriously, more DLC would've made me forget about the patched exploit and would've been a better way to go out.

Looks like I may need Avron's Cranky pants for a bit longer. :(

It was an exploit, it needed to be corrected, if you like exploits just turn god mode on

They apparently started Skyrim shortly after Oblivion (it says in the blog linked in the OP that Skyrim was started in 2006). Oblivion was started even before Morrowind was finished, I think?

Edit

Jeezes there seems to be a lot of spoilt kids in this thread...

Hrrm. Mixed blessings indeed. :/ Onward to a nearer sequel... And yet... The hopes of FO:3 style expansion releases die hard. :')

That's still 2016 at the earliest.

Since I wasn't necessarily counting on more DLC, I'm neutral with this announcement. It's too bad we won't get more content, but there are always other games. And if it means FO4 and/or TES6 come out sooner, then all the better.
