Calm aggressive NPC

I've aggravated an NPC by stealing something from her house, and now she attacks me on sight. This is unfortunate, because I need to talk to her in order to proceed with a quest. How can I get her to calm down and talk to me again?

The spell Calm will calm a human or creature, allowing you to talk to them. You may want to raise the person's disposition by bribing her or something, because once the spell ends, she may go back to attacking you.

Is that the only way? I'm not exactly a mage, and getting that spell seems like an awful lot of work for a simple quest. I can't just wait it off or something?

What's the quest? I don't think it'll make a huge difference, but you never know.

I have to assume you got caught stealing, so have you tried turning yourself in to a guard? I can't remember if this resets NPC aggression, but it's at least faster than getting a spell if you don't want to go through the trouble. Calm is a fairly cheap spell effect, and so most characters should be able to manage it enough to stop an attacking enemy for a short while.

Slept for three days and she had suddenly calmed down. Problem solved! :D

Also, if the need ever arises there are Scrolls of Calm in Morrowind that you can use. These don't require you to be a mage to use them. But, I think most of the time a NPC will calm down over time. Have fun!
