Computer Build

Alright, so I'm building a desktop computer, and I need help with the parts. I selected the desktop things I think would be fine for my case. Can anyone have a look at them and see if there are any major problems with it, like compatibility?
And sorry, I haven't made a wishlist to organize my parts yet.

I'm not sure I'll need the fan, but hey, I'm no computer expert.

Also, I was debating which processor I should get, a AMD FX4100 AM3+ or a AMD Phenom II AM3. Are the AM3+ better and faster, or what? I'm a little confused on that part, because upon Googling, I found that the results were very mixed. The people at Newegg's forums say that the Phenom is better, but many other forums and people say that the 4100 is faster.

Hard drive is the only thing I would comment on as well. If I were building my own desktop I'd get a smaller SSD just for the operating system (32 or 64GB) and then a 1 or 2TB traditional hard drive for files and programs. Or a hybrid drive like Scozzar suggested. Some concept - install the OS on the SSD part.

What OS are you planning on installing? Have you taken the cost and drivers into consideration?

I'll let people who know more than I do comment on the rest, but as for the fan, absolutely go for it. Maybe even get something a bit higher-end. I lament every day that I didn't spring for a better cooling system for my beast. It might seem a small thing, but it will really tip the scales on how it "works" in everyday life. Heck, I can't even run my computer during daylight hours for most of the summer without my room feeling like a sauna(or having it overheat and shut off), and, to me, that's no small thing.

So I guess the other parts besides the HDD are compatible and fine? The one you linked to, Scozzar, seems pretty good, and way better than the one I found. I guess I'll use that.
I'm planning to install either Windows 7 or 8, and the cost is a small issue, but not very important. I'm a little confused by building computers, but how would you make the operating system use the SSD and the files go into the larger HDD?

And yeah, it seems fans are really nice for computers that do gaming or other intensive programs. I don't think I'll need a higher end fan, as what I would do on that computer wouldn't be too intensive, but yeah, I'll take that into consideration.

When you install Windows, select the SSD, then when you install programs instead of just clicking "OK" on the default installation folder, choose the larger hard drive and have a Program Files folder already on it for you to install to. Your startup times will be just a few seconds that way.

Ah! I see now. So all of the files will be downloaded onto the larger hard drive, while the OS can stay on the SSD. By having the two separate storage devices, the computer would be faster? I just hope I can build the computer correctly so that the SSD and HDD can both fit.

SSDs are the same size as a HDD, so if you have more than one 3.5" bay you're good. And it would only be faster because SSDs are super fast. No moving parts to slow down the data transfer. Just don't de-fragment your SSD.

So I should deselect the option to defragment my SSD. Ah, good to know. Thank you!
