New BBCode! [hide]

Hello forum-goers!
You know how a lot of times we ask you to put big pictures or long written works in spoiler tags, even though they're not really spoilers? Gone are those days! From now on if you have something you want to hide, use the
hide tag!
But Musicman, how does it work?
I'm glad you asked. Here is the way this code works: exactly like a spoiler tag except you use the word "hide".
Code & Example:
Code: Select all
[hide]Put all kinds of cool stuff here![/hide]
We hope this will make the spoiler tag more meaningful as we ask that you put
only spoilers inside spoiler tags.
Thanks!

Very handy but hopefully it won't lead to any of this

@p-sto: A better way to alert someone of that would be to PM them
@Velvet: We're doing it so when you click on a "spoiler" you know it's actually going to be a spoiler, and not just a picture or someone's off-topic or out of character post.

Lots of screenshots are hidden by spoiler tags, but only a few are actually spoilers (main quest related) and so now instead of having to say "This is actually a spoiler" the poster can just use the spoiler tag.

Reminder: You are expected to put all major game spoilers beneath a spoiler tag. If not for yourself, then for the users who don't want games spoiled for them. Tis in the rules and to not do so makes the S'wit very unhappy.
Great job as usual, MM!

Bread - this is a hide:
This is a spoiler:
The difference is the second one is actually a spoiler, albeit a low quality and already known one.

Yay! I will remove the "spoiler" from my signature and insert a "hide".

I'm not stupid, you know. I promise. I know what a spoiler is.
I'm just wondering if it is really going to be followed by most users. Or if it is necessary. But here's a real spoiler,

Woohoo! The 'hide' tag has been updated to include custom titles!
So if I just want it to say 'Hidden' I would use the hide tag per usual.
But if I want to specify what I'm hiding I can add a title to the tag.
Code: Select all
[hide="NSFW"]Your boss is a jerk.[/hide]
Have fun!

That's one way to put tone into writing.

Just wondering, can this be used to stack hide tags within each other?
EDIT- Never mind it can't, I just tried it.

Though I did wish stacking hide tags worked. Only real time I use spoilers when not relative<_< is for like sheets and that

Just to add, this is not something I intend to see abused, so use it wisely. It's great for images, long quotes or stories, OOC roleplay comments, etc. But let's not get all inception with them.
