Skyrim's Cut content

So in my bordem I decided to sift through the CK and find things that have been cut, or appear to be cut, and I am frankly suprised at the sheer number of quests that got axed.

-Research Thief(CoW)
-Missing Apprentices(CoW)
-Animal Pelt Collection(Companions)
-Collecting the Edda(BC)
-Rogue Wizard(CoW)
-Lod's Lot(FK)
-Supply Line(CoW)
-Runil's Dark Past(FK)

-NarzulburFreeFormWifeQuest
-freeform Markath a,b,c,f,g,h,i
-freeform solitue 5
-freeform Winterhold B
-Old Hroldan A
-Mephala's quest part 2
-Boethiah's Bidding part 2
-A Bad Trade
-Trius' Trinket
-FreeformAngasMillKordirsSkooma

-The Civil war, large part of it.

These are all the quests I could find that had been seemingly cut from the game, several of which do not appear on the unfinished quest list for skyrim.

The rouge wizard one is actually in the game guide as a working quest but i have never seen it done.

The game guide also says the missing apprentices quest is in the game, but it isn't. Game guides are written before the game is done so they can be printed in large enough quantities in time for release, but that means they often have old info.

Markarth got the axe big time in its quest content, the only remaining parts I can find are for quests H, and I, which appear to deal with
-H: getting medicine for the wife of the inn keeper
-I: getting Ualie, the forsworn agent working for Nepos, a sleeping potion

Kurt Kuhlmann made a post on the official forums a while back talking about how he proposed much more content based on MK's "Aldudagga" series, including a sub plot about recruiting giants to support the civil war or even to fight Dragons. The only part of this that remained in the game that was released is a random encounter about a painted cow, another reference, but apparently the cut content involved trading animals with them for favors, too. If you watch the e3 footage from 2011 closely, you'll see that when Todd approached the giant there was a "talk" option displayed on screen.

Also, Alduin was apparently originally intended to be lootable, and even in the game that shipped the option appears briefly on screen but does nothing.

When you say a large part of the Civil War, how large do you mean? Are they the same as the ones you go through now? If they are, I wouldn't want them. I already hate how repetitive the questline gets.

The civil war apparent had upwards of 11 radiant, repeatable, quests.

The only ones that remain are quests 3, 4 , and 7, and are once only.

There was capturing towns, mills, farms, mines, you could capture holds in any order you wanted, you could recruit giants, convenience soldiers to defect, and there was a resource system, amongst other things.

You also got paid weekly, and could donate your pay to the wives of fallen soldiers.

And now I'm disappointed with Bethesda. That improves that questline so much, its not even funny.

There was also something about exorcising ghosts from people homes, but I cant exactly pin down what that was tied to.

Oh man, that would have definitely made me more interested in the Civil War questline...

I'm actually very interested in "Runil's Dark Past." I like that gentle old man and would like to know more about him beyond what I read in his journal.

From the dialog in the CK you basically question him about his past, and he tells you that he was once part of The Thalmor, and killed a bunch of people, men, wemon, children, and burned down entire villages for them, and that hes somewhat afraid that some of the local nords might find out who he was, and you can tell him his secret is safe with you.

that is pretty much it, or at least, all that I can find in the CK.

Ah, thanks. Shame, I would have liked to hear George Coe read those lines.

this was actually what convinced me to buy the Game. when i saw the ''Talk'' button on the Giant, my mind went crazy imagining the great quests that could involve them !

then when i got the game, i was so disappointed :(

Fuuuuu.... come on! What a waste.

The Civil War was supposed to basically be 10 times longer and involved sieging all major cities and mills, with the giant thing that people have mentioned already. Supposedly it got cut because it was too big.. but they made the war a complete joke in the process.

That is annoying about the civil war. Considering how big a role it plays in the game's storyline the actual war feels like nothing. On my first runthrough I joined up with the Stormcloaks and it seemed I'd conquored all of Skyrim in about 10 minutes. Just take over a few forts and there you go! That and the fact that the Stormcloak/Imperial factions are basically mirrors of each other quest-wise and it does feel like Bethesda has short changed us there. Season Unending is cool though, even if I had to re-play the civil war questline to see it!

I also recall several daedric quests were partially cut
-Boethia had a second quest involving sneaking into the blue palace and murdering Elisif, at which point Erikur would become Jarl.
-Mephala's Daedric quest once involved using the ebony blade to corrupt Balgruuf's other two children, who go crazy, sacrifice a horse, and then who murder their father, at which point Blagruuuf's brother becomes Jarl.
-Vermina's quest once involved you making the torpor, instead of just finding a bottle of it.

I know that the quest "tending the flames" had a cut objective involving trying to get Tullius to give up his coast so they could burn it on the effigy, apparently he wouldn't so you had to steal it.

I have also found out that there were three small farms that were cut, but they apparently had no quests relating to them, just random NPC who worked/lived there.

And looking through the CK I found out some interesting facts like Sergius Turrianus from the College of Winterhold is a secret lover for both Faralda, and Nirya, this probably being the REAL reason behind their rivalry.

Wow, I'm glad that was cut, actually.

That's actually not cut, that's part of their relationship files that the game very much does use.

the same relationship files also state things like Enthir from the college, and Farengar in Whtierun, are friends, and that Faida, the innkeepr of four shields Tavern in dragonbridge is the cousin of Corpulus Vinius, the innkeeper of The Winking Skeever in Solitude.

Many relationship files serve seemingly zero purpose unless looked at in the CK.

I wish that was cut. My mage will never look at Faralda the same way again.

Yeah, I'm going to forget I ever read that. I thought that was just something the Interesting NPCs mod made up that I thought was ridiculous.

why exactly?

I think both of those would have been really cool quests to do.

If it was any other Jarls, I wouldn't have as much of a problem. Balgruuf seems to be the only Jarl worth a damn and Elisif.. meeh I guess I could live with that. Kinda have to be pretty nefarious to start Boethiah's quest anyways.
