It seems that the name "Redguard" is floating around the Internet now as the next dlc name?

Already? Didn't Dragonborn just come out for Xbox? Hell, PC doesn't even have Dragonborn yet and PS3 is still using a patched up base game. Bethy needs to release some stuff for PC and PS3 first then give it a little time

It seems they trademarked the name back in march 2011 and it's about to expire. Speculation about if they're going to extent it's trademark or not led to this.

I'm in favour of waiting for the next patch...

As am I, just thought I'd rotate the rumor. In all honesty I'd be disappointed if it was a new dlc.

I hear they have curved swords. Curved swords!

Redguard was the name of an Adventure Elder Scrolls game (in case you never venture out of the Skyrim sub-forum). I kind of doubt they would name a DLC after one of their older games. That would get confusing for ES forums and wikis like ours.

Though I don't think it's the next DLC, and they should take more time to deal with other issues, I think there could be some interesting ideas there

Please no. I'm waiting for a full game for Hammerfell, and a Redguard/Hammerfell DLC would push that down the priority list.

I never really want to travel there. I think most people wouldn't like it.

so what? our character was called a Dragonborn before Dragonborn came out, and there were many other Dragonborns in other games before Dragonborn came out, they still called it Dragonborn :P

and on the subject of the DLC, i would hate this, i want to visit hammerfell in a Full game, not a DLC ... so maybe if it involves redguards but isnt set in hammerfell ... but i still wouldnt like it

For the interested:
Spoiler:

Not a lot of info, but some speculation.

There is a TES spinoff called Redguard so the copyright for it could be for that and seeing as it is generally disliked by most TES fans, i think they have decided to not renew it due to it being a bit of a failure.

But i've have heard they have curved swords. Curved swords. Or was it sweetrolls? You can never tell with them. I really hope it won't be set in another province as provinces are too big to do in a single add-on. Hammerfell is bigger then Skyrim i think. The Dovahkiin has no reason to pop over to the redguards to borrow a cup of sugar so i suspect it is just for the game i mentioned.

I really hope the next add on is not another big evil person/faction threatens skyrim and you have to save it as it's starting to get old. First Dawnguard, then Dragonborn. We should really start charging Skyrim for our services.

I think it would be awesome to have a redguard DLC for a couple of reasons:

1. Seeing the elder scrolls get a Middle Eastern/Egyptian style makeover would be the bees knees.

2. Watching a good portion of gamers spluttering about, trying to justify and defend latent racist attitudes would probably be more entertaining than the DLC alone.

It could work, as they could use Stros M'Kai as the location.

I also don't buy that the weird spin-off game they made would stop them from doing it.

There's a bit of a difference in that there was never a game titled Dragonborn before the DLC.

This is all just speculation anyway. I'm not seeing anything to back it up like the code pieces we had for the Dragonborn DLC.

I think it would help me finally decide whether to help Saadia or not!

Hm.

I know that there have been many reboots of series that use the franchise name... Case in point, Medal of Honour, et cetera.

I don't think that a DLC entitled Redguard would be too much of a stretch, and it seems to fall in with the Bethesda style of naming games and DLCs.

I remember the speculation when Bethesda trademarked Skyrim, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn, and even the URL elderscrollsonline.com. It's been accurate enough up to this point that I am inclined to think that -if Bethy has trademarked the name Redguard- it is likely gonna be the next DLC.

So you don't think it's the trademark for the Redguard game? I guess it's possible.

For those unfamiliar with the way trademarks work, they don't get a trademark on the word itself, but on the presentation or styling of the word. If we could see the trademark we would have a better grasp on whether this was a trademark for a new title/DLC or for the previous game.

Well truth be told Beth can milk Skyrim for another year if they wish and what is better than a former game now turned into DLC. First it provides a new visual setting, it is pretty obscure so the lore can be expanded infinitely and last it is a fresh thing compared to the snowy Solstheim and Skyrim.

Now I know about the Redguard game but if memory serves me right one of the main characters, a captain, was a Nord and Cyrus even had an adventure in Morrowind so some loose ends can be tied into a proper DLC if the developers wish it. Now I doubt that they will recycle Cyrus or other characters but Hammerfell was a major setting for the war with the Thalmor and we have already encountered the two Redguard factions in Skyrim in Saadia's quest.

Since a DLC to sell needs to be innovative, different and has to have some proper content a DLC in Hammerfell is just the thing, it would sell good since the tribute to Morrowind proved quite a success. As a player from day one of Skyrim I am really curious to adventure in other lands, not just in the snowy north and to compete with the new games like Farcry 3, Beth has to be innovative since people will demand it.

The Redguards provide ample opportunities for Skyrim to expand and I would love to see them properly portrayed in a DLC. To all you who moan about the next TES games, we have to be ready to expect them as MMOs from now on since they are better moneymakers. I suspect that Skyrim is the last singleplayer sandox game in the TES franchise so I really look forward to have as many regions and cultures of Tamriel included in this game.

As long as the Thalmor play a major role in the next DLC i'm happy. :)

Bethesda sold the rights to making MMOs, to ZeniMax(which still counts, I guess) so unless daddy ZeniMax takes the toy back from little brother ZeniMax Online, Bethesda can not make MMOs. I don't know why some people still do not know this, but seriously, we should calm down.

I just watched the video posted by OblivionDuruza, to be honest I'm not convinced. There really isn't enough information at all to say that the next dlc may take place in Hammerfell. Unless someone finds physical evidence in the game or a future patch I won't be convinced. Also, he kept referring to Hammerfell as a nation instead of a province. I may be wrong but did Hammerfell secede from the empire during the great war?

Yes, it is no longer part of the Empire.

Alright, now I have a theory about what the possible DLC may be about:
Spoiler:
The new DLC will require you to complete the Civil War questline in order to start it. In Hammerfell (a independent state now) the stalemate/ceasefire with the Aldmeri Dominion ends. You as the Dragonborn must aid one of two factions in Hammerfell depending on who you sided with during the civil war questline. If you sided with:

Imperials: You support a faction that will drive the Thalmor out of Hammerfell and rejoins the empire.
Stormcloaks: You support a faction that will drive the Thalmor out of Hammerfell and remains a independent state.
What do you think of this idea?

IF the dlc is indeed redguard, then that is a very plausible idea, tham.
