Question about the Werewolf Realism mod

I've been using this mod for a while, and one of its features is the opportunity to become a werewolf before starting the main Bloodmoon quest. It works similarly to the unmodded game, in that you just have to find a werewolf NPC, get into a fight, and get infected with Sanies Lupines. The mod adds more of these werewolf NPCs, so it's easier to find them on the mainland.
During my last playthrough, this is exactly what I did. I got infected, not via the script in the main Bloodmoon quest, but in a fight with a werewolf. Naturally, I decided to keep it and become a werewolf. Unfortunately, once I did get to the main Bloodmoon quest, something strange occurred. I was able to initiate the Skaal Test of Loyalty quest by talking to Tharsten Heart-Fang, but when I tried talking to Korst Wind-Eye, he knew I was a werewolf and cut me off from the rest of the quests. Immediately upon exiting his home, the village was under attack by Hircine's werewolves, same as if I'd just finished the Skaal Test of Strength and had spoken to Tharsten. I fended them off and then took out the two inside the great hall, however none of the other quest scripts kicked in.
Therefore, I was pretty much stuck at that point in the main quest. While I didn't mind being kicked out of the Skaal village, since I was planning on staying a werewolf anyway, I never got the dream from Hircine that would initiate that side of the quest. I used the console to start the Dream of Hircine quest, but after completing it, I still didn't get any dream from Hircine. I had already completed most of the quests in the main game and Tribunal, so I wasn't missing much, but I was still counting on getting Hircine's Ring and the Spear of the Hunter.
So my question is, is it still possible to complete the main Bloodmoon quest as a werewolf if you got infected prior to the Siege of the Skaal Village? Also, if you cure yourself with the Rite of the Wolfgiver quest, is it still possible to get infected with Sanies Lupines via the script during the siege event?
