Spambots and User Registration

Hello everyone!

I am trying to implement some sort of registration CAPTCHA to eliminate and/or greatly reduce the number of spambots, which has grown to amazing volumes since Skyrim's release. However, there seem to be a few kinks somehow preventing user registration or password resets. I am very sorry and will hopefully have this resolved within the hour. Please see my wiki talk page if you cannot get into the forum to let me know about major issues.

If you see a spambot or any thread and/or member who raises your suspicions, please remember to post them in our Report Spambots thread for moderator action. Spambots usually have:
  • unusual usernames (random letter/number combos)
  • unusual profile information (random letter/number combos, interests like "law firms" or "desk chairs")
  • post threads that seem a little strange or stilted in language
Please do not post in these threads! Report them at once.

Thank you and once again, I'm sorry for the problems. I'll fix them ASAP.

Update: Registrations and password retrievals should now be available. If you have a problem please let me know.

I'll be updating us to a CAPTCHA later on today with some help, so hopefully there will be no bugs. Hang in there!

What do I do if I'm a spambot and have already registered?

Sounds painful. What if you are a human, but only want to give spam. :P
So, let's get this right, if six users join in minutes and all love Oblivion, what do you do?

They said they'd "keep my application on file". You know what that means.

Update: UESPF now requires new users to enter both a Q&A and a reCAPTCHA to complete registration. This should greatly help with our bot problem! Special thanks to Musicman247, who assisted with the HTML coding and testing.

If you have any issues, please let me know. Otherwise I shall consider these updates now over! Thanks everyone!
