Halo 4

What's everyone's opinions on the new Halo game? Being the first one developed by 343i (Industries), i think it's going to be absolutely BRILLIANT!...apart from one thing.
Is anyone else a bit worried about the new weapon unlock system? I think it's going to be interesting and fun, but i'm also paranoid about those who will get more Spartan Points than others being VERY destructive towards new players. That might just be me.
Topics to talk about (since they're relevant);
Spartan Ops replacing Firefight
New Armour Abilities
Support Abilities
Prometheans and Their Role
I'll say one thing here; I am SO GLAD they are keeping GRIFBALL as an actual playlist! I am going to kill Griff to death...with his shoe.
Anyway, I welcome any links to new stories and/or info, so if anyone has any, POST! Lets make this thread good!

Sprint for everybody! That is probably the best addition to multiplayer. As if it couldn't more action packed.

We already have a thread for this, but it has died off. I am very excited for the game though! I have been playing Halo since day one. Can't wait!

The other thread is pretty old with older information, so I'll let this stay.
I'm looking forward to this game! I enjoyed Reach and what I've seen so far has been amazing. The models look great, new enemies, no Flood, Master Chief. Sounds good to me!
Here's the latest Vidoc!

I'm excited for Halo 4 because of the main theme of the game: A new, interesting, detailed world, with tons of new things to discover, all while KEEPING HALO HALO. I played Reach to death, 253 hours so far to be exact, but for the most part, while the TU earlier this year helped, it was still Reach, and the people that liked bloom, and everyone else like that, they couldn't isolate that fanbase, but 343i knew that if it went on any longer Bungie would isolate the hardcore fanbase, and so that's the way it went. It's a great game, but it's far the legendary multiplayer game it was in Halo 3, and that's coming from someone who only played 59 hours of it, and never got addicted like I did with Reach, due to Reach's non-skill based, Credit system. /rant

Crap, didn't even realise this exsisted! Damn! I love vidoc's
I'm glad that the Flood have gone. While I loved the story of them, they were annoying as hell to fight (halo 3; couldn't get past floodgate on Legendary, for this reason)

I was talking to a friend on facebook who says that Halo 4 was trying to appeal to the CoD gamers. Simply because of the unlock system. I'm not sure why. You know about the new armour ability? Many people hate it...I more than welcome it

it'll spice things up in CQB thats for sure.

This is a very good thing. Halo 3, in particular, was slow, but it was intended that way. It made you think, rather than gunning it half way across the map. I was a bit worried that Reach would abuse the sprint in terrible ways...it didn't, and I doubt that 4 would do that either. Essentially everyone now has TWO armour abilities, because of this...AWESOME!

Halo 3, slow? No... First of all, because Sprint pretty much became the one and only worthwhile AA for competitive players, it was practically a necessity on the battlefield. That's what I think you mean by saying Reach is faster than 3, while 3 actually has much faster default movement than Reach. As far as Halo 4 appealing to CoD players, I could make the same argument for Reach: Reticule bloom, non-skill based ranking system, armor abilities, the list goes on.
The trick to making effective unlocks in multiplayer games is something that Call of Duty has forgotten about, and that is BALANCE. Let's say you get to level 50, and now you have a really good gun, one inaccessible at level 10. Look at it this way: With Battlefield 3, DICE took the time (mostly) to make sure that even when you unlocked new weapons, all that gave you was more options, and not a superior gun. Call of Duty on the other hand took the other path, and didn't do that, pretty much taking any credibility out of its competitive realm.
If Halo 4 can pull it off, it will be awesome.

I suppose I see what ya mean, but Reach didn't seem like CoD to me. Don't get me wrong, I loved Reach, but the rankings didn't/don't work the same way. Mind you saying that, people compare the AA's to kill streaks on CoD.
On the balance front, I totally agree. If they can balance it, it'll be absolutely perfect...im just worried if they don't...then I could have a problem.
Frost, what you think on Spartan Ops replacing Firefight?

Can't say I've heard too much about it, need to research it more tomorrow.
The thing about Reach that really [&@%!] me off is the AAs, which like CoD, you started out with. I think if they expanded on Halo 3's pick ups, and replaced them with Armor Abilities that you picked up at places on the map, just like power weapons, the game would have been infinitely more balanced and fun. Then again, Halo 4 is willing to take the risk and not use that system so many people wanted, and I really hope it works out.

Its clear that 343i are risk-takers...I hope this works out too.
Anyone here a fan of...
GRIFFBALL?

You know, like more Counter Strike.

CS:GO was a pretty neat release. Present day graphics, new stuff, and all that for a tenner.
See, updating your franchise every so often when the fans call for it is clever. Selling your rehash of an old franchise for $60? Nah, I'll stick to Counter-Strike.

No. All that happened was that Bungie left and is planning on creating a new IP, and 343i is creating a new, more character-driven trilogy in the Halo series.

I'm really excited for Halo 4. Some of the levels in the Return of the Forerunners video look really cool. I'm pretty excited for multiplayer, and that you can actually sprint this time around without it being an armor ability.

This isn't exactly constructive criticism.
