Unsatisfied with Hearthfire?

Is anyone annoyed about the size of the Hearthfire DLC? Todd Howard said Skyrim's dlc would have 'a lot of meat on them' and yet from what I've heard of Dawnguard and what I've seen in the Hearthfire trailer this is clearly not the case. It's good that you can build your own house and adopt children but I hope this is just intended to ease the wait for a larger expansion, one bigger than Dawnguard.

And the part about "and a few smaller dlcs to hold you over untill the larger ones are ready" flew right over people's heads? Im satisfied because it is only five dollars. Also it lets me make a house that i want to make, that way i can make it unique to each of my characters.

I'm pretty sure that's the case. Bethesda definitely wouldn't release all the DLCs for Skyrim in the year after it came out, and so they're probably dropping this one now so that you'll have something to do while they work on a much larger expansion. Either way, Hearthfire's only 5 bucks (or 400 MS Points for me - which, amazingly, is exactly how much I currently have left on my account), and in my opinion it's worth it.

I think it's great. Even as 'one of the smaller DLCs', I imagine it'll still take up a lot of my time.

By how it's gone so far, I believe they've probably been working on multiple DLCs simultaneously and that this is just to bide the time for a nice chunky expansion.

Anyway I'm satisfied with Hearthfire since 360 doesn't get mods and because I've still got leftover MS points after getting Dawnguard. :P

I like extra content in my game, no matter what it is - and so do a good crowd of others, since that's why we have such a large modding community. I'd rather them put the time into creating a big expansion and give us some small DLC to preoccupy ourselves. I mean, this is a sandbox series; there are thousands of hours to put just into the vanilla game, and then you have mods, DLCs, expansions as they come...whoa! That's a lot of stuff!

It's definitely nothing that special, but, like the horse armor in Oblivion or the little add ons like Battlehorn Castle, it's just something to make your characters more unique. So, bring it!

I'm assuming this is going to be a good gold sink. I was thinking last night I've lost the urge to pickpocket as I have too much gold already with nothing to spend it on! Oh, and I want a house full of bookcases--I hope we can make separate pieces like that :)

This is actually my main concern. I may be among the minority that finds scrounging for large amounts of building materials and grinding for gold tedious.

It's a house mod. You can't compare it to the likes of Dawnguard.

Dawnguard is not small, if you ask me. Two sides to join, Vampire and Werewolf skill trees, a lot of new areas to explore, many new armor sets, new weapon type (crossbows), a few new shouts and spells, and a long and rewarding miscellaneous quest that doesn't even have anything to do with the main questline.

Anyhow, I am certain Hearthfire and Dawnguard serve to ease the wait for something positively gigantic.

Dawnguard was ok but I wasn't that desperate for it, as vampires, werewolves and other undead just don't appeal to me that much. But house building I'm really looking forward that might even take the day of work for that. Problem is at the moment it just feels a bit minecrafty (I seem to be the only person on the planet who doesn't like minecraft).

I like to agree that it is something small they are giving fans while they work on the much larger stuff. If it adds on to rp at a minimal I still think that sounds fun for a bit. So long as you can return the kids back to the orphanage once they've passed their welcome. Ha.

Yeah the Adoption sounds bad , the house building is a bit of a ''meh'' point for me , as i dont use houses for anything other than storage and crazy evil scientist alchemy experiments .

I want to at least have the chance to play this one, except I think constantly defending a house is dumb. Those same enemies are everywhere. "Oh no, it's a SKEEVER!"

For the price of a single-use mochachinofrappelattespressononsenso, I'd say it's good value.

Sure, it's a house mod but it adds several new features that are really cool such as adoption and a trophy room. I can see myself installing this DLC if it's a reasonable price. I'm sure they'll release more substantial ones down the road.

I say meh.

Im happy that it cost $5. But I never really get into the whole house and wife stuff. That is usually the last thing I have my character do before I "retire" them. I LOVED the castle and mage tower in Oblivion. I LOVED the "build a home" in Bloodmoon. Those were operational fortresses. To me, Skyrim homes were, well, "homie" and didnt make it fun or comfortable to go home, change loadouts and head back out. When I went home, I wanted to stay there.

Hopefully this expansion will be better than a house (as it so far seems it will be). Im not all that into the adoption thing, or any of that "house warming" stuff. I want a storage facility loaded in a location that isnt just "another house".

In Morrowind I killed the comona tong leader for his house. Or took venim manor under Skar for my own. And had another "FOB" in Raven Rock.
Oblivion I just used the Battlehorn Castle (or whatever it was called). The other "houses" were nice, but again, functional vs homie.
In Skyrim the only half way functional home is Windhelm, and even that is more of a "good ol' days from the war" type of home in my opinion.

I'll buy it. I'll try it. I'll either love it or be meh about it. Anything to support our lord Todd Howard.

I agree with this, I'd also like to add the fact that it isn't out now and although we know it won't be a big DLC we do not know what exactly is in it(in addition to what was in the video) because bethesda have typically never shown all the features of a dlc in a trailer.

Also this could be part of a larger "hearthfire" DLC that has been fragmented, they release some now, some in a month and some more later on. Resulting in a collection of related smaller DLC's which could be though of as an expansion in total. Just speculation though.

What? like a small town? You get your personal house now. Then you get other houses around yours. Then markets... etc until you challenge the Jarl for the title and challenge them to a battle to the death in your personal arena. When you win you feed their body to one of your dragons in their personal word wall perches. Then you have to defend the hold by fending off invading bandit hordes and dousing the flames of dragons. Put up firewalls at night to fend off vampires. And have a sewer system build where you have to keep it clear of thieves and ne'er dwells. Keep the streets clean or writhe around in the muck of corruption and crime. . . hmmm yeah, I dont think that will happen.

If it comes out on PC I'll probably get it, will be disappointed if there is no Skeleton Butler though.
