Smite is a new 3rd-person MOBA game developed by Hi-Rez Studios. The game pits players against one another, taking on the roles of gods from the Ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Norse, Hindi and Chinese pantheons in a similar, yet distinct, format to games such as DotA. I was lucky enough to be accepted into the SMITE Closed Beta, and although I've never really played online multiplayer games, I decided to check it out and have been having a fairly good time.

So I was wondering, is there anyone else on the Forums who is involved in the Beta or is interested in the game? As a participant of the Beta stage I do have the ability to give out Beta keys so although I'm not going to do some big give away, I'd like to be able to play with some of you guys (might make a nice change from some of the other, less amiable characters who sometimes frequent these sorts of games) so if you're interested, perhaps let me know and we can discuss details. Hmmm not a fan of the art in this game, although videos always look a bit different. I love the idea of gods smacking each others lights out, but I dunno... doesn't really look like my type of thing.

Probably keep an eye on it though.

I've played it yesterday and wow, it's really cool. I never really got into LoL but I'm already hooked to Smite! I've given some Beta keys to friends and they seem to enjoy it aswell (and they are 'hardcore' LoL players).

Does it have the Tuatha Dé Danann? If it doesn't then it should. A game based off a number of gods from different mythologies would be interesting but the gameplay doesn't sound like my cup of tea.

My story is similar, I never really have ever been into Online games, but I've really been enjoying SMITE, when I've had time to play it. I'm on a three week break as of this evening though, so I hope to play a bit more. What's your username? Maybe we can have a game sometime, perhaps with some other UESPers?

Well, they are constantly adding new Gods, so maybe in the future.

So as SMITE just went into Open Beta, and a new Team functionality was added, I thought it'd be a good time to go back to this thread. For anyone interested, I've created a Team UESP, so that if there is interest, we can organise some games together. I should say, I'm going to discuss the idea with Daveh and/or other Wiki and Forum 'staff' just to get the okay to use the UESP name, so it's not locked in that this will go live, although I hope we will be able to have a few games together regardless. Anyone interested can check out SMITE here and feel free to add me (ign: Duruza) if you want to participate. you can also PM me if you want any more details,or simply ask here.

I'm definitely joining. It has been a while since I played, but I updated the game today and I will be playing some games over the weekend.

It's a bit annoying that both Path Of Exile and Smite are going in Open Beta on the same date. What the hell do I have to play now. D:

What times might you guys be online for a game? Also, there is the issue that if we do play together because of the large disparity between our levels at present, you guys will probably be up against vastly more experienced players, unless I make a second account or something. Strictly speaking, that shouldn't really be an issue, but as much playtime/experience as you can pick up the less chance we'll get completely pubstomped (which won't be fun for anyone

)

Well hey, I just started not too long ago. You guys are like Closed Beta people.
However, level isn't necessarily representing skill, but I do agree, I"m terrible.

Certainly it does not, I just mean that because of the way match-making works if you play with me and we don't have enough players to make a full custom game for ourselves, we will be placed in a game with higher level players, with more experience.

I'm sure you'll develop more skill at it with a bit of practice, like all things it takes time. I'll PM you about it, and maybe I can help you by jousting you 1v1 and letting you try things out rather than have to focus on the competitive nature of things. That being said, I'm not sure if it will allow us to joust until you hit level 15, although that restriction might not apply if we are in a party. We shall just have to see

Ah, I wasn't aware that that happens in match making.

The thing is, you are in Australia, and I am in America. Even if the level restriction doesn't apply for parties, it will be hard for us to organize a party.
