ITT: your favorite amateur, semi-pro, and/or "severely under-appreciated" artists from the digital age. This is not a thread for old dead masters or elite artistes embraced by "gallery establishment"; we've got plenty of those already. Rather, this is a place to rep, discuss, and spread awareness about less well known (but still utterly awesome) community-level artists, the sort who live and thrive in our wired world of blogs and Tweets, neither utilizing nor needing the pre-millennial analog "art world". If in doubt, ask yourself: would the NYT run an article about this guy? If the answer is "yes", he probably doesn't belong.

Here's a few to get us started:

Space Coyote
Spoiler:
Image
Ms Coyote is probably the greatest thing since sliced crunchy salmon rolls. SA goon, video game nrrrd, Futurama fan, this TARTlet is famous for her ultra-postmodern illustrations of things we all love (cartoon shows, video games) done in contemporary styles which re-contextualize, yet treat with respect and do not undermine, the source material.

Dan Lacey
Spoiler:
Image
Another sometimes-goon, perhaps best known for his surreal political-religious-pr0nographic webcomic, Faith Mouse, starring such memorable characters as The Pope and Timothy the Ex-Gay Bear. Dan has a habit of going off the deep end every so often, and the results are... well, see above. If there's any one artist I would like to be when I grow up, it'd be Mr Lacey.

Chris Chan
Spoiler:

Think American Splendor told from Toby Radloff's perspective. If Toby Radloff was fatter, dorkier, less mature, and never had a job in his life. See his official thread for more info.

Jed Henry
Spoiler:

One hell of an awesome illustrator who is currently making e-waves with his woodcuts. Ukiyo-e woodcuts. Of Link and Star Fox.

Waita Uziga
Spoiler:
Image
Not really my favorite guro artist, but I'll mention him because he is, without a doubt, the most famous one. Almost single-handedly responsible for introducing us to the phrase "WTF, Japan?!" WARNING: I take no responsibility for your actions if you decide to Google him. Do not do so if you're a whinging muppet.

Handre de Jager
Spoiler:

The "creepy Mario dude". Pics say it all.

This dude who serves lunch at my office building's cafeteria told me one day he'd be famous for his surrealist pop art. I had no idea what surrealist pop art would even look like, but he (Casey Bryan Doherty) told me his website, so now I know. And I think he's damn good, too.

I should also give a shout out to Kelly Tunstall, who let me use her paintings in my Sweetspring Island mod.

Don't know much about her, but I love her D&D monster pics.
