Halo: The Fall of Ichthys
The year is 2541, and the Great War between humanity and The Covenant is entering one of its bloodiest periods. The Outer Colonies have already fallen to the enemy, and the Siege of the Inner Colonies is in its fifth year.

The planet Ichthys, in the system Ectanus 45, has been attacked. Covenant forces have already secured many cities and large portions of the planet, and are closing in on the capital city, Thalassa. One million people live in this city, and evacuation efforts are underway, but the enemy is closing in fast.

An elite force of soldiers has been assembled and sent to Ichthys with two objectives;

1. Assist in the evacuation of Thalassa, rescue as many citizens as is possible.
2. Evacuate personnel from a UNSC military base, secure transport off-world or signal for evac.

YOU are a part of this force, and may be a part of one of two groups that make up this force;

Fireteam Oscar, led by Captain Freeman. You are a marine, a gunslinging sailor of the stars who has been trained to fill Grunts with hot, steamy lead. Freeman has been placed in charge of your squad and the entire mission, despite being outranked by the leader of the other squad. None of Fireteam Oscar have ever worked with, seen, or even heard of Captain Freeman. You may have pre-existing relationships with other squad members, or some may be new transfers.

Gold Team, a group of SPARTAN-IIs, led by Major Connor. There are limited positions (4). You have all worked together in the past, for at least a few missions. Everyone must cooperate, work together, which isn't to say there can't be rivalries, or has to be friendships.

Gold Team is under the command of Commander Henry Bedfield, also known as Gold Actual. He will chime in over the comm every now and then, offering tactical support, or possibly any mission updates or new orders that may arise.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
More will be added when it comes in, this is a work in progress.

IMPORTANT NOTES;

1. No sign ups yet. Haven't worked out stats/skills and such quite yet, but I'm working on it. You may reserve a spot.
2. You may NOT reserve a spot for a SPARTAN. WHEN sign up time comes around, those interested in playing as a Spartan will message me saying as much, and when I have all your names, 4 people will be RANDOMLY chosen to play as Spartans, and those 4 people will then discuss who wants which role with MATURITY and POLITENESS.
3. Do not go thinking "OOOHOHMYGODIWANNABEASPARTANYESYESYES!". Spartans may have incredible skills, but they also have terrible luck, and are sent on the most dangerous tasks. Most of them die. It is very likely that Spartans will die in this RP. Marines will be more fortunate.
4. I will be your DM, and Musicman will be my "helper" :) He and I will be the ones controlling Captain Freeman and Major Connor--either or. I will control Commander Bedfield, though he will only come up in the RP occasionally.
5. Spartan customization will be somewhat limited. The limit of slots for Spartan characters necessitates set character guidelines--wouldn't be good if the whole team was made up of snipers, or if there were no demolition experts, or something. The slots will be assigned a number (you can pick your name, of course), a rank (not important), a role (like sniper, intelligence expert, demolition expert...stuff like that), and minimum stat requirements.
6. Again, work in progress. Character sheets and whatnot will come soon.
7. Fear not, you (probably) won't miss this. I have the bones of the RP laid out, but it will still take weeks (minimum) to get everything set up, all shiny, and ready to go.

Halo Terms/Slang/Jargon/Military Terminology

(For more information, or information on other terms or topics, go to: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page)

Brute-The Jiralhanae, a Covenant race of powerful, ape like humanoids who are capable of great feats of strength and brutality, and are generally not very intelligent. Prone to fits of berserker rage. Skilled in combat, but generally use simple, brutal tactics. Also known as Fur Balls, Crazy Gorillas, Baby Kongs (BKs or Bravo Kilos), or Monkeys.

Drone-The Yanme'e, a Covenant race of bug-like, human-sized, flight capable aliens. Usually come in squads. Also known as Roaches or Buggers.

Elite-The Sangheili, a Covenant race of strong, humanoid aliens with quadruple hinged mandibles and hoof-like feet. Skilled in combat. Usually lead Grunt squads, but there can also be squads of only Elites, or mixed with other races. Also known as Split Lips, Squid Heads, Alligators, and Sharks.

Engineer-The Huragok, a Covenant race of floating, tentacled, ball-like aliens. They are great scientists, able to easily work with any technology, and can provide extra shielding to their allies. Non-combatant. Rarely seen in the field. Also known as Boo-Bags, Loogies, Slippery Suckers, Floating Squids, and Floaters.

Glassing-Plasma bombardment of a planet by the Covenant; turns the planet surface into glass and ash.

Grunt-The Unggoy, a Covenant race of short, stocky, generally cowardly methane-breathers. Cannon fodder. Usually come in squads. Also known as Chimps, Monkeys, or Gas-Suckers.

Hunter-The Mgalekgolo, a Covenant race of large, heavily armored, hulking aliens, bearing large shields and assault cannons. Actually made up of a unified colony of small, worm-like organisms. Very dangerous. Skilled in combat, somewhat clumsy. Usually come in pairs. Also known as Cans o' Worms, The Things with Spikes, or Juggernauts.

Jackal-The Kig-yar, a Covenant race of bird-like, dextrous aliens. They usually bear portable shields, but can also be sharpshooters. Usually come in squads of mixed races. Also known as Buzzards, Turkeys, or Skirmishers.

MAC-Magnetic Accelerator Cannon, a massive coilgun used by the UNSC, usually on warships. The only non-nuclear UNSC weapons capable of taking out Covenant capital ships.

ODST-Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, a special branch of marines who specialize in deploying to operational areas in one-man drop pods.

Pelican-A UNSC troop transport. Moderately armed, and can function as a gunship.

Phantom-A Covenant troop transport. Heavily armed, and can function effectively as a gunship.

Spartan-A UNSC supersoldier, genetically modified and implanted with cybernetics. Rigorously trained and tested, Spartans are legendary warriors, also feared by the Covenant, who sometimes refer to Spartans as Demons. Outfitted with powerful MJOLNIR battle armour.

Spirit-A Covenant troop transport. Lightly armed, but still potentially very dangerous to ground forces.

CHARACTERS

PCs

NPCs

Major Connor
Spoiler:
Designation: SPARTAN-123: Connor
Gender: Male
Age: 30
Rank: Major
Appearance: 6'4", short-cropped brown hair, clean shaven, steely grey eyes.
Image
Personality: As brave as any other Spartan, Connor is a prime example of the group of supersoldiers. Confident, intelligent, and observant, he commands great respect from ally and adversary alike. He keeps a level head and maintains strict personal discipline, but he can be known to make a few jokes when he is in the mood.
Captain Freeman
Spoiler:
Name: ? Freeman
Age: ?
Rank: Captain
Appearance: 5'7", messy black hair, goatee, blue eyes.
Personality: Control freak. Usually keeps to himself and stays quiet, until he has to give orders or converse with others, in which case he is loud, irritable, and downright tyrannical. Needless to say, not very likeable.
Commander Bedfield
Spoiler:
Name: Henry Bedfield
Age: 45
Rank: Commander
------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHARACTER SHEETS (Working on it, incomplete, please do NOT post character sheets or anything yet :P)

Marines
Spoiler:
Name: (You choose, but obviously you can't be named 934729, Catherine Halsey, Avery Johnson Junior, Pizza Monkey ...you get the idea)
Gender: Male or Female
Age: (18-35)
Rank: (Anywhere from Private to Sgt. Major, but there may only be 2 or 3 sergeants. [Rank doesn't really matter])
Appearance: (Be as specific or nonspecific as you like. Hair colour, eye colour, height, any armour personalization WITHIN REASON, like maybe a decal, battle wear, cuts to keep track of kills, a good luck charm tied onto it, etc. [All marines wear the same standard issue armour, pictured here: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/UNSC_Marine_Corps You may choose to remove your helmet, or flip up or down the visor, but doing the former will be severely detrimental, as you will be without head protection, and your comm is built into your helmet])
Spartans
Spoiler:
Designation: SPARTAN-(085/066/094/107): (Name [First name only])
Gender: Male or Female
Age: 30 (All Spartan-IIs were age 6 when they were kidnapped and made into soldiers, and by this year, they would be 30. Simple enough.)
Rank: (Captain/Chief Warrant Officer/Warrant Officer/Warrant Officer)
Appearance: (Again, be as specific as you like, but all Spartans wear MJOLNIR armour, which may be customized as you like, with whatever parts, the only requirement being that you are fully suited in armour, and must have the colour gold incorporated somehow into your armour [Because we're GOLD Team])

Just asking... I'm not HUGE into the lore of Halo, I mean I know a lot of stuff, but I'm not sure if I could keep up with the overall theme of this RP.

I think it should be fine, Frost Mage. I want to make this as accessible as possible, so I'm adding a glossary of terms, and I'm going to do other things to make this accessible to those who aren't as familiar with the franchise.

Yeah, I totally used my own Spartan's picture (from Reach) as Major Connor's armor. Rather plain and clean, aside from the gold secondary paint, as I envisioned him. Rank and file rifleman.

WHEN THE TIME COMES for the Spartans to write their character sheets, if you have an xbox and Halo Reach or Halo 3, I would advise you to customize your armour how you like on the game, as long as part of it is gold, then go to Halo Waypoint on your computer, and get the pic of your Spartan so you can [img] it into the appearance section of your character sheet. WHEN THE TIME COMES. WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO BE A SPARTAN. Doing anything like that sooner might just hurt you a bit if the fates decide you will play a marine instead. But really, it shouldn't. It will be fun to play as either :)

Going to be awhile anyway. MM will DM, but he has a RP to do right now. Besides, there are a buuuunch of RPs running right now, so it would not be well timed to do this *right now*
