For those who don't know yet, at midnight last night at the Dark Knight Rises premier, a single gunman entered the theater and started shooting. So far, 13 people are confirmed to have passed away. One of the worst things to happen since the Columbine school shooting.

i think i may pass on seeing the dark night rises. now
worst thing since the Virginia tech shooting. I really don't get any of this, like why people even have the thought of causing such violence.

Yes, because the Man is working with a Group, INTENT TO DESTROY THE NEW BATMAN MOVIE! THEY'LL GET YOU IF YOU GO! I really don't see any reason not to go see the Movie, unless you live in the Area.

Even if you do live in the area, it's not like the same dude will be there...
Also...
Who the [&@%!] takes a 6-year-old to this kind of movie?!

I, for one, would have a very hard time enjoying the movie because I'd be a bit preoccupied with thoughts of the victims in Aurora.
Edit:
Deandra wrote:Who the [&@%!] takes a 6-year-old to this kind of movie?! :x
Youngest confirmed victim was three months old, I believe.

That's probably exactly what the [&@%!] was going for. "Just shooting up a bunch of people isn't all that memorable. Let me associate my sorry ass with a really popular movie, so that any time somebody thinks of that movie (or even Batman in general) they'll think of me." And it'll probably work, too. [&@%!] him. I'm going to see the movie this weekend.

This is [&@%!] terrible. I can't really say anything more than that, other than "I'll still watch the movie, though."
I mean, the movie didn't really have anything to do with it, apart from being a sure ticket to a full cinema room.

Did not Bruce Wayne witness his parents murdered as they were leaving a theater?
...maybe a real life Batman will be born of this?

Sounds like this person was extraordinarily paranoid. He booby trapped his own home for no particular reason.
It probably doesn't help much for to say it but, at least he wasn't doing this with... shall we say, sanity?

You mean, besides 9/11, the Indian Ocean tsunami, the Tohoku tsunami and nuclear meltdown, the Mumbai bombings, Virginia Tech, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Liberia, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, Barack Obama, Skyrim, SARS, SOPA, Hurricane Katrina, the BP spill, the Fort Hood massacre, the Utoya summer camp massacre, and of course, the
Moscow Theater attack, which resulted in nearly
two hundred deaths, most at the hands of the Russian military itself? Ignoring all those things, yes, it is "one of the worst" things to happen since Columbine.
All the more reason to join me in boycotting Hollywood.

I think that was completely unnecessary. He did say
one of. And I doubt he's playing favorites.

What's unnecessary? Pointing out that there's been countless bad things that've happened since Columbine? Bad things happening pretty much every day, before and since, some just as a bad, many much much worse? Are you saying it's "too soon" to be reasonable and ask that we keep things in perspective, no matter how compelling the disaster-of-the-day (one of many, I might add- I can guarantee you that something worse happened to people deemed less newsworthy on that very same night) might be?
I don't really do the whole "let's make a public show of being upset about an incident that doesn't effect us personally, at least until we forget about what happened in another couple weeks" thing, but a I said, ignoring everything else that's happened and continues to happen, this is indeed one of the worst things since Columbine. Sucks to be them, I guess.

Well... that was not what I was getting at.

It just might mean that there could have been some meaning to what they did.

Eh, I dont have it in me. I opened my big mouth when I shouldn't have.
's okay. I just want to be clear that I'm
not glad these people are dead- even thought they did break the boycott and enrich the evil Hollywood oligarchs currently seeking to destroy the internet. It sucks! It does! But after awhile, you get to the point where human tragedy ceases to be some sideshow curiosity, something to be marveled at and cried over on those few occasions it chances to hove into your perspective, and simply strikes you as routine.
An example: a few years back, one of my sergeants was in Iraq, traveling in the back of a truck during a routine convoy mission. This little girl, eight or nine years old, comes up to him at a stop and offers him an MRE bag (a plastic bag filled with food). He thanks her for the thought, but turns the gift down, and gives it back to her. They get about ten meters up the road before the bomb hidden in the MRE bag goes off. Vaporizes the little girl and about a dozen innocent bystanders, mostly kids and elderly civilians.
Was this ever on the news? No. It didn't involve a popular movie premier and a deranged genius who sounds like he could have been a bonafide Batman villain, just a handful of brown skinned kids on a street nobody ever heard of. Did anyone back home care? Nope. How can you care about something you never heard of? The people involved are dead, just as dead as the victims of this shooting, and the survivors won't get interviews and talk show appearances and monetary trauma claims and books written about them. Even now, I doubt any of you would give two craps about the MRE bomb, since it happened so long ago and to people so far away. It's unfair, it's a double standard, and I wouldn't blame you one bit- there's only so much you CAN care about, only so much you SHOULD. C'est la vie, non?
