Gold Bug

So I've been playing Daggerfall quite a lot lately, and I've noticed a rather annoying bug. The game is having difficulties keeping track of how much gold I have.

Right now it says on my stat window that I have 7222 gold, yet if I try to buy anything or put any gold into the bank, it tells me I don't have enough gold. This seem to randomly happen, an sometimes it tells me I have a few hundred gold more than I actually do, and sometimes it's thousands. It very seldom tells me my actual amount of gold.
It's not actually a huge problem since the extra numbers doesn't weigh anything, it's just annoying to have to figure out how much gold I actually have any time I want to put it in the bank or anything.
I tried opening my save with DFHack, and it tells me I have 0 gold right now (which I do).

So, anyone else have this problem, or a fix for it?

The stat window displays total gold, and you might have some of it in the form of letters of credit. There should not be any problems buying stuff, though.

Oh hey, thanks. I checked my wagon and it turned out one of my many parchments in there was actually a letter of credit, worth 7222 gold. I have no idea how that ended up there.

Suppose it wasn't a bug then, and it was I who couldn't keep track of my own finances, not the game.

Thanks for the help!

From the wiki:
UESP wrote:Letter of Credit: If you want to transfer gold from one region to another or if you need more gold that you can carry (for example, for a Daedra Summoning), you need to obtain a letter of credit. The letter's value is defined when it is certified at a Bank. The administrative charge for certification is equal to 1% of the letter's value. Therefore, if you request a 100,000 gold letter, 101,000 gold will be deducted from your bank account (100,000 for the face value, and 1,000 administrative fee). A Letter of Credit is accepted as means of payment in nearly all situations and it weights only 0.25 kg. Some exceptions exist, however; for example, Taverns will only accept cash, not letters of credit.
