I've seen them live twice and man, if I hadn't seen it for myself, I wouldn't have believe that a single person can produce all the sounds Carey does in "Opiate". I swear, he sounds like he should have two brains, each controlling a separate set of hands and feet.
@Lindai - that video is insane.

I wanna see them live, but they aren't coming near me that I know of. And also looking out for a possible upcoming album as well!

Tool generally stays around top 10 greatest bands ever in my mind. I did see them once here in Jacksonville. Man was that a good day, which includes a funny tale of public urination, locking keys in a car, and hiring criminals to get them out.

Haven't heard them that much. I don't dislike 'em. I don't like 'em either. They are okay. I could probably fall in love with them, but everything at its time.

I've never given them a chance, but their drummer was in
Green Jelly, which can't hurt

Someone remembers Green Jelly? I think the Matrix just glitched.
I did not know that about Tool, but Green Jelly is marginally better so I guess it's OK.

LOL! Was Danny Carey the drummer in Green Jelly/Jello?! I always found that song hilarious!
Also, I totally forgot to mention this, I still have the same opinion about Tool, but I am absolutely in love with
this Puscifer song.

Tool has been one of my favourite bands for a long time. They are all individually great musicians, but put them all together and man.. they create some magic for sure. I saw them in Vancouver last year (or the year before?) and it was a great show. Maynard is quite the anti-frontman, despite his huge voice and presence, he spent most of the show singing from the shadows on the side of the stage, with a few bottles of wine. Good times.

I never really got into Tool. Maybe I should try harder. Still think Dale Crover's a better drummer though.

I like Tool well enough. I fail at music theory, but there is something about songs by both Tool and King Crimson (and pretty much no other bands' songs that I know of) that triggers a certain spiraling pattern in my synesthesia. Probably has something to do with the time signatures?

Possible, Tool is known for intricate patterns and odd time signatures. it also may be that they do use effects rather well, phaser I think they use in 46-2....Or is it reverb? Eh, can't remember, there are quite a bit. Tuning can also play an effect, I don't know for sure what tuning they are fond of, but it can also play a role on how a sound is aurally perceived.
Some of these aren't always present in their songs though, so a random song may not present what I've mentioned.
