The year is 2365. Within the past 353 years, a lot has been accomplished, to say the least. Man stepped foot on every planet in the solar system by 2104. There are 106 million people colonizing the Moon and 36 million people colonizing Mars, with another 9 million people colonizing other planets and moons. Cheap labor is now done by simply commanded robots. Artificial intelligence has been created, but it is illegal, due to the UN declaring AI use equivalent to slave labor. Fossilized bacteria have been found on Mars, but no intelligent life.
Interstellar travel is gaining increasing interest by humanity. First, a satellite was sent to Alpha Centauri in 50 years, and ever since then travel time has been reduced to a mere six months. A small planet near the star Proxima Centauri, in the habitable zone, has been the center of attention recently. This planet, Moya (Named after its discoverer Ricardo Moya) has been speculated to hold actual intelligent life and there has been a race to place a man on Moya to answer that immortal question: Are we alone out there?
Moya is a small, barren world. It has almost the same gravity and atmosphere as Earth and it is even breathable by humans. The land of Moya is rock, comparable to Mars, but dull blue in color. The planet gets rough lightning storms almost daily. What makes people think Moya holds life is its huge cave systems. Rovers sent to Moya have sent back data detailing there is more oxygen in the larger caves, which may point to plant life, and water in the forms of underground lakes and possibly even oceans.
The Discovery and Observation of Moya Association, DOMA, is the leading organization dedicated to discovering everything needed to know about the small planet. DOMA is a large organization dedicated to science, not money. It is supported by hundreds of countries and has thousands of scientists, engineers, and other members actively involved. In 2356, astronauts Evan Kirby and Dr. Nora Barkley, private DOMA personnel, were the first humans to step foot on Moya. Ever since then, laboratories and research stations have been built by DOMA in order to discover more about the planet. No major discoveries have been reported though and DOMA has reported that .2% of the planet’s cave systems have been explored. Scanning is difficult due to the amount of rock and other metals making up the caves.

You, a semi-ordinary person, have been contacted by DOMA. Due to your exceptional skills in your scientific field or other ability, DOMA officials want to fly you to Moya for a job that they are keeping quiet about. You don’t know what they want; you only know they promise a three million dollar payout and the rights to publish anything you discover relating to your field of science, no matter how groundbreaking.
You can be:
*An archaeologist (Study of ancient civilizations)
*Linguistics expert (Study of languages)
*Sociologist (Study of society)
*Geologist (Study of the Earth)
*Biologist (Study of living things)
*Anyone who studies anything related to astronomy or astrophysics. For example, or scroll to the bottom of the page and look at the articles in the category
*Somebody who is an expert in caving (Exploring wild caves for fun or sport). I will allow one of these types of people.)
*A survivor type person (You can get creative here, anywhere from a Bear Grylls celebrity type character or someone, maybe in the military, who is famous for having survived in a hostile climate for an extended period of time. I will only allow one of these people.)
*A hired mercenary, trained with guns and survival skills (I will only allow one of these in the roleplay)
If you feel that you cannot create a character fitting to these guidelines, PM me with a suggestion. DOMA is hiring internationally, so feel free to make your character from any country, as long as they speak English.
We’ll be starting the roleplay after months of space travel to the prominent and famous laboratory Omega Station IV on Moya’s surface.
(Also: I know what you may be thinking: 'So everybody has to be an old professor in some college?' Answer: no. You can easily be working in the field, such as an archaeologist that digs for ancient ruins or a biologist in the Amazon. Use your imagination!)

She has a strong jaw line. She wears black-rimmed glasses. She wears a white turtleneck and blue jeans along with boots. So far from Earth, there is not a lot of regulation regarding attire.
Personality: Nora is very hot headed and short tempered, making her not well liked among the others at Omega Station IV. She’s very capable at her job and knows it.
Background: Nora was raised by a rich family in England and had the best education you could ask for. She worked at a university for several years until she decided to join DOMA, where she volunteered for the dangerous expedition to Moya, where she became the second person to step foot on the planet.

Profession: Lieutenant of the guard at Omega Station IV.
Appearance: Light brown skin with cropped black hair. The lieutenant has a square face, thin lips, and a crooked nose. He is tall and muscular. Although he appears tough, his greenish brown eyes shine with the humor and amusement of his real self. He wears the standard wear for a military official: a thick black vest and khaki pants. Kirby wears a thin grey shirt underneath the vest. He has an AK-47 slung over his back.
Personality: Carefree and a jester, Kirby (As he prefers to go by) is more like an overgrown child with a desire for danger and excitement, which is why he volunteered to journey with Nora to Moya.
Background: Raised in a small town just outside Orlando, Florida, Kirby joined the Coast Guard to escape small town life. He found he was fascinated with space but was never smart enough to go to college and study it. When DOMA announced it was planning a risky sojourn to Moya, Kirby joined and volunteered. His acceptance into the mission was mostly luck, but being the first man to step foot on Moya made him a very important person.

Profession: Part time professor at Harvard, astrophysicist, host of a wildly popular TV show, aimed at teaching the general population about space.
Appearance: Dr. Rushdi has a thick set of short white hair and a matching curly mustache and full beard. He has a fully belly and a wise, calm look to his eyes. He has dark tanned skin and bright white teeth. Rushdi wears a blue Hawaiian shirt with yellow flowers and khaki cargo shorts on Moya.
Personality: Dr. Rushdi is a cheerful man who loves teaching people anything he can to improve their lives. He is sincere in his efforts to improve the world’s understanding of the universe and often donates large sums of money (being a millionaire) to charities.
Background: Born into poverty in a crowded Indian city, the now famous Amar escaped the clutches of India’s poorer state by moving to the US and getting a proper education. He later went on to be a professor at Harvard, but retired to start his show, ‘Eternity’. He had a wife who passed away of cancer and a child. Rushdi has made international news lately after journeying to Moya upon invitation, the first non DOMA member to do so legally.

Personality: Sophie is usually polite and quiet, preferring to let her father handle situations.
Background: Dr. Rushdi allowed Sophie to come on his show to attract the younger audience with her looks, and he doesn’t hide it. Although she doesn’t possess her father’s smarts, she is learning and recently graduated from Harvard. She is also a musician, and able to play guitar very well. She was invited with her father to Moya.

Appearance: A wrinkled, stern face, snow-white hair, slate grey eyes and a dark blue business suit with a yellow tie fitting a thin figure.
Personality: Serious and quick to anger, Don Caruso cares about only one thing: money, and how he can profit from everything he encounters. Caruso is cunning, quick, and merciless when it comes to making a deal.
Background: Raised on the Moon in a new settlement, Caruso left as soon as he could, to New York, New York. There, at 21, he was an intern at an asteroid mining company, where he worked his way up over the years with his skill in business. He eventually left the company to start his own, Caruso Mining, which was hugely successful due to an initial discovery of a previously unknown metal around the rings of Saturn. After just ten years, he bought out the company that he used to work for and owned the largest monopoly in asteroid mining in the universe.
