Game recommendations, anyone?

Lately I've discovered the world of PC gaming. And I would love to know some great games for my laptop.
Problem is, the graphics card is [&@%!].
It's a pretty nice laptop too, a Toshiba Satellite, I don't know what model exactly though.
The games I have and can run currently are as follows:
Rome: Total War
Morrowind
Oblivion (framerate drops sometimes, but if I lower the draw distances it's fine)
Dragon Age: Origins
Mount & Blade Warband
F.E.A.R. (I have perseus mandate also)
Half-Life
Spore
That's about it, I have Assassin's Creed also but even when I set the resolution down, the graphics down, and do other performance enhancing ish and whatnot it still lags consistently.
I've also been told that Portal, Half-Life 2, and The Sims 3 would work fine on my computer, but I haven't gotten around to getting them.
Thanks in advance

Fallout 1,
2, and
3.
Fallout New Vegas.
Neverwinter Nights 1 &
2.
Civilization II. Some snootypoops might recommend the newer titles in the franchise, by I personally recognize no iteration after numero the dos.
X-COM: UFO Defense. Then
UFO: Aftershock, a cool spiritual successor, available on
GOG without the horrible Starforce copy protection it launched with.

I actually planned on getting fallout 1 and 2, but 3 and NV seem kind of redundant considering I have them for the xbox. Plus, I don't even know if my laptop can run the last two efficently.
I also got Civilization Revolution for my xbox and I loved it. I'll probably check out II also. Why is it superior to the others?

Because I played it first and the fan scenarios created for it (e.g.
Red Front 1.4 by Captain Nemo,
Bonaparte 2.0 by John Ellis, and
In Nomine Domini by Paul Mutica) consecrated my adolescence. Plus IGN backs me up,
placing Civ II at #3 on their list of greatest games ever.
If for some reason you decide to pick up
Civ IV, try the
Fall From Heaven II total conversion: possibly the greatest thing to ever happen to
Civ modding.

Some good F2P games:
Tribes Ascend
Blacklight: Retribution
League Of Legends
Team Fortress 2
Strategy games:
Supreme Commander 2
Starcraft 2
If I come up with more I'll be sure to post them here. n_n

That is probably not you, I've heard AC1 wasn't ported to PC well, so it has more issues than 2,Brotherhood, and Revelations.
I do think your laptop could play Orcs Must Die! rather well, if you can play Oblivion.

Warhammer Dawn of War, the complete series
Warhammer Space Marine
Command and Conquer, all the games are great
I agree with Will on the Neverwinter series...they are top
My personal favourite: Baldur's Gate series. Simply there are no rpg games than can equal this epic series.
P.S; A word of advice, Warhammer Dawn of War, Dark Crusade is very, very addictive. Especially if you play the Imperial Guard...in fact I am going to play it right now.

By the way, here are my PC specs.

Windows 7
Video Card: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Video RAM 1.7 GB
Hardware T&L Yes
Pixel Shader version 4.0

Hoping this will help narrow down game recommendations, if anyone knows anything about computers!

If you want to look at some old school games and use dosbox, check
http://www.abandonia.com
they got the classic Ultima series, and other great ones. Nothing beats the classics

(and its free!)
Just to name a few other good games
Icewind Dale 1&2
Baldurs Gate trilogy
Gothic 1 & 2 (3 and Arcania suck terribly. Forsaken Gods shouldnt even count as a game )
Diablo
Oh, and of course, Daggerfall!

This may be the butt of jokes, but
Doom. (1 and 2.)
Yes. oldschool 1991 doom.
Grab them cheap off of steam, and grab the zDoom source port and
Knee deep in zDoom, which is an epic re-imagining of the first episode of doom with all the new features zDoom supports.
Doom is of of those games I can load up to Play for a few minutes and end up spending hours on.

There have been some *great* suggestions here!
Will Zurmacht mentioned:
Fallout 1 & 2
Civ(ilization) II
X-COM: UFO Defense (steep learning curve but worth it. I still have the manual and it's a little thicker than the one for a texas instruments graphic calculator)
Arcanum (you MUST use the unofficial patches from terra-arcanum, though it's still a bit broken afterward)
Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines (made by Troika games, as with Arcanum. Uses the Source engine, just a bit before HL2 came out. Excellent game and should run just fine on your system. Again, get the unofficial patches from terra-arcanum)
Those are all in my top 20 games of all time. So are ...
Arterion suggested the Baldur's Gate series. IMO the Neverwinter Nights games don't stack up against Baldur's Gate. I suggest new players start with Baldur's Gate II, as the starting city (well, all of them) is just amazing and the improvements over the BGI engine. BGII is in my top 5 favorite ever
I see you have a T6600. I recently replaced my laptop's T6400 with a T9600 (2.8Ghz) for $100. Check if your motherboard can support it. Huge performance increase over the 6400 for ~cheap. The T6600 though is PLENTY to play Half Life 2 and its mods (Day of Defeat: Source, Counter Strike: Source, ~Team Fortress 2, BattleGrounds 2 - a revolutionary war mod with bayonettes). You should also be able to play Civ IV without issue. And Lord of the Rings Online if MMOs are your bag (~free to play now)
And of course my two favorite games will play wonderfully: Curse of Monkey Island (money island 3) and Grim Fandango (get the patch for processors over 450Mhz)

You really need to get around to Half Life 2. Not playing it is a terrible waste.
Also, seeing that someone mentioned StarCraft 2, might I suggest good ol' StarCraft + Brood Wars? I never regret playing those.

Seconding Half Life 2. One of the best made games ever.

And put me down for Half Life: Source

It's probably just because I pre-ordered it a year or two before it came out and had been waiting for it since the first articles on it in PC Gamer when it was still on the Quake 1 engine, but I friggen love Half Life 1. Half Life: Source is their remake of 1 using the HL2 Source engine

Well, based on those games, I'd say:
Crusader Kings 2
Published by the same guys who did Mount & Blade, this one's a
very deep grand strategy game that focuses on feudal politics and intrigue between warring noble houses. Basically, it's Game of Thrones in video game format. You assume the role of a single individual, the "head" of a medieval family, and go about forging alliances, amassing wealth, and claiming titles through marriage, diplomacy, and warfare. Sweet, bloody warfare! When you die (of old age, in battle, or poisoned by your greedy younger brother) you pass on your realm to your heir (IF you have an heir...) and then it's his turn to win glory for your family name, or lose it all and bring shame to his father and his father's fathers.
Medieval II: Total War
Like Rome, only better. If you can run Oblivion, you should be able to run M2
X3: Terran Conflict
Outer space flight sim and 4X sandbox strategy game. The next installment in the X series is coming out this year, so you'll probably hear more about it as time goes on, but for now, you could try X3:TC. If you can't get it to run, X2 is also an excellent game, and will run fine on any rig that can handle Morrowind.
Planescape Torment and Baldur's Gate
You mentioned getting the first two Fallouts; YES. GET THOSE. Then get Torment and BG, which are isometric RPGs in the same vein as the first couple Fallouts. They've been discussed at length elsewhere on the forums.
Hitman: Bloodmoney
Better than Assassin's Creed; you actually get to murder people and sneak around, instead of just being a glorified action game starring an urban free runner who goes toe to toe with hundreds of guards before fighting the Big Bad Boss.
Portal, HL2, and Sims 3 are all very good; of those, I'd go for Sims 3 as it's more substantial and will keep you occupied for longer, although bear in mind that it can be taxing on your machine due to the sheer size of the files and amount of content, especially if, like me, you've installed ALL the expansions. Also, HL2 and Portal both require Steam, which is a deal breaker. Archea mentioned
VtM:Bloodlines; I'll second that. It's an awesome FPS/RPG, more linear than Oblivion but still brilliant. Will mentioned
Civ II; I agree that the early Civs are better than the later ones, but I'd go for
Alpha Centauri over Civ II, or possibly a Civ-clone, like Masters of Magic (Civ II meets Magic the Gathering) or Space Empires IV (Spore's Space Phase, except done right).

Okay, so I got Portal and Medieval II, F.E.A.R. has been keeping me occupied enough to be satisfied with what I already have.
God damn F.E.A.R. is [&@%!] scary.

Ooh, how about Age of Empires II? Graphics might be shoddy, but it'll keep you addicted for a long time IMO.
