Here is a thread where we can discuss fun and interesting character builds that you use or are planning on using in the future. I'd like this to be a collaborative where newer members can get help, but where experienced fans of the series can help each other out on the minor details.

Khajiit Monk:
Health 30%/Stamina 40%/Magicka 30%

Heavy Armor
Restoration
Conjuration
Alteration
Enchanting

For this build, you can basically just use your fists, no armor but gauntlets, and appropriately humble clothes. Before each fight, you cast a Flesh spell, and then heal yourself as necessary.

I am thinking about starting a character that I put 100% of my perks into stealth skills. I know that powerful characters can be made by putting all perks into combat or magick skills, but I'm curious to see if it will work with stealth.

It seems that stealth skills really eat up perks. I'll probably put few to no perks into lockpicking, and I may have to choose particular sides of some trees. Here is my plan:
Spoiler:
Race: Khajiit. I figure I can make use of the claws to survive early on close encounters

Weapons: Lots. And preferably enchanted. A bow, two one handed weapons, a dagger, and probably a staff or two

Alchemy: Probably my only means of surviving open combat. I figure if I dual wield and have the concentrated poison perk, thats 4 hits of poison at a time

Stamina: lots of stamina will ensure that my wimpy one handed attacks are at least all power attacks. Also, running away will be something I will likely do alot of. I'm also going to have to carry alot of weapons and potions/ingredients. I figure a 2:1 health/stamina ratio may work, although perhaps a 1:1 ratio later on, depending on how things go

Light armor: This will be important, however as I will not be taking many hits, I will likey have to pay for training. Enchanted armor will be very very helpful as well

Sneak: Obviously my best means of killing will be backstabbing with a dagger, and best means of surviving will be staying undetected.

Smithing: Even though I will be putting no perks into this skill, high smithing will alow me to improve my weapons more, which adds up significantly with the sneak multiplier

Pickpocket: I would really like to be able to take enemies weapons away, and then claw them to death

Speach: Will come in handy. Lots of money means I can train up in archery, one handed, light armor. ( I may have to take advantage of that wood elf in riverwood!)
This will have to be put on hold for now, as I've just started my classic wood elf build, the one I used for morrowind and oblivion my first playthroughs. The stealthy, skilled archer who can also kick butt with a sword and shield. Will probably do every major questline exept stormcloaks and college of winterhold.

It's also good to note that Smithing is very useful at higher levels, since if you take the right path up, you get to Daedric faster, and thus can improve your Deadric Daggers, as well as improve your Nightingale Armor. ;) I'll post my assassin build a little later.

Its good to see threads like this. I love making assassins who are experts at stealth, and masters at close combat, kinda like assassins from assassins creed.

I'm trying to create a guy who never kills enemies himself, only uses crowd control and supports his companion. So, he's focusing on restoration and illusion. Should start training on smithing as well, to make my companion tough enough.

For my character:
Spoiler:
Nord

Health 50%
Stamina 50%
Magicka (No need/desire)

One Handed (primary weapon choice, secondary being the Thu'um, most versatile of the three melee weapon groups)
Heavy Armor (strong with the perks letting me cause damage even if I'm disarmed, halving damage when I fall, and potentially reflecting damage)
Smithing (access to all armours/weapons, as well as maximum tempering [most of the time])
Lockpick (allowing me access to locked-away treasures and to rescue prisoners from such plays as Northwatch Keep)
Speechcraft (better prices at the market as well my persuasions/threats working much better)
Blocking (used against the strongest enemies, including as a weapon)

Steel Plate Armor
Skyforge Steel War Axe or Skyforge Steel Sword

Steed (until my Heavy Armor hits 70 for Conditioning)
Warrior (help raise the other melee skills quicker)

I've been toying with the idea of doing a stripped-to-the-bare-minimum pure Dovahkiin character. No Perks, no Magic (except for Shouts), and just crappy old Iron Horned Helmet with Iron Armour and clunky Iron Weapons.

Hey, we need to keep this thread alive, people!

Anyways, here's my Spellsword:
Skills: Destruction, One-Handed, Conjuration, Enchanting, Alteration, Light Armor, Restoration

He's your typical Spellsword, using both a sword and magic, sometimes only magic, and using enchanting to improve his blade.

I don't want to make it overly complicated, and because this doesn't have to have anything to with roleplaying, you can just post your skills. Also, since we are all sharing these builds, we don't want to feel like we're copying someone when we take advice from other people. :)

I'm currently playing a Khajiit SpellFistSin and having a lot of fun (after an assassin and heavy 2hander) @ level 11

Equipment: Apprentice hood, necromancer's robes, steel boots, gloves of the pugilist, ring of minor magica

Sneak: I have 42 sneak. It comes in handy at least for meeting enemies on my own terms for now. Khajiits get +10 to sneak off the bat. Punches appear to be silent, so sneaking up to a resting draugr and getting a x2 on the first punch is nice and I can punch them out before they get up and make enough noise to wake their friends. Unfortunately there's no sneak bonus with magic and you have to get pretty close to punch someone

Heavy Armor: I'm shooting for the fists of steel perk to enhance my hand to hand damage. Unfortunately, at lvl 11 I've just earned heavy armor 18 (need 30). It levels up very slow because I'm wearing no armor on my head and body for sneak and magica reasons.

Unarmed: There's no tracked skill or perk tree here. Just the Khajiit bonus, gloves of the pugilist, and fists of steel to shoot for. The 'gloves' give +10 unarmed damage, but further in the game when I have Fists of Steel they'll be disenchanted. For a purely no or light armor character, it's a shame that the assassins gloves are said not to help unarmed (makes at least as much sense as it doubling sword backstabs). I swing my claws only with one hand, as I find that double power attacking with both hands takes way too much time. Also, it doesn't seem like punching with the right then left gives a significant speed bonus, if at all. 2 weapon enemies are easy - just run up quickly and throw punches in between their swings.

Destruction: I throw sparks for their increased range and for the sake of convenience not having to switch spells (and perks) per dragon resistance. It's neat that you can punch while not interrupting the flow of sparks. I have lightning bolt too, but it doesn't do all that much damage so it's only for when enemies are out of range. I just reached augmented shock, which means my lightning gets a 25% boost. A great use of my left hand since I only punch with 1 as it is.

Conjuration: Having no main armor and helmet means I take a lot of damage when hit. On multiple-enemy skirmishes I summon a flame atronach - helps spread up who's attacking me and the fireballs are a big help.

I started a Bosmer who is an undercover operative for the thalmor. I go around and any subversives who are discovered are noted and will eventually be dealt with (although the dangerous preacher in Whiterun was immediately dealt with)

Ya but only when the target is far enough away to turn into an ancient nord pincushion otherwise i use sneak archery on mages while using destruction with sneak and conjuration on melee opponents and for sticky close encounters where i can't summon a bound weapon i'll pull a staff and skyforge sword 8)

I really like reading about how other players stack up their characters. Diversity makes the world go 'round. 8)

I have a typical mage with destruction and conjuration being her main skills. She has enough perks in restoration to recharge her magick with on-coming spells. I want to max out her sneak skill. She has a couple archery perks and where I went different with her is I invested in alchemy over enchanting. I know for the typical mage enchanting should be high but I used alchemy as a role-playing tactic (her background was strongly in alchemy). This is where her bow comes in: she uses weakness to magicka poisons or ravage magicka for mage enemies. Other than that, I would say she is a pretty standard mage.

My assassin has an interesting build. Illusion magick seemed to require a lot of investing before seeing benefits, so I went with it. So with this character I invested strongly in Illusion, sneak, archery and alchemy. She has some perks in one handed and speech. I use poisons heavily with this character. She uses companions and conjuration as distractions so she can spam arrows. I use the
Spoiler:
sanguine rose
a lot. Invisibility is my best friend. What is a bit different about her is that when she is in a tight spot and can't shout, she uses destruction magick. Other than that its her bow, dagger or blade. I wouldn't call her a spell/sword combo because she rarely uses destruction. However, Illusion has become an immense tool in fighting enemies. It took a while for me to figure out how to use it properly as well as investing time into it (the lower illusion spells don't work on higher level enemies). I invested a ton of magicka perks on her too. I would say next to conjuration, illusion is my favorite magicka area in this game.

To build a Spartan, would it be more apt to use a Redguard or Imperial?

The Redguards have a matching appearance with the Spartans? You sure about that? I had no idea my ancestors were that olive/tan... :P

I threw Redguard in there more for their lore (very militant, very skill-based). I was thinking Imperial, as well, more for the aesthetics and because their lore would somewhat support it as well.

Quite honestly, a Spartan-esque warrior wouldn't fit in with any race in TES. This is like one of those Star Wars or Lotr builds . . . XD Which, there's nothing wrong with, but it's hard to find any lore backing.

At all.

How so? At least from a military standpoint (as no one even in ancient times matched the sophistication of Sparta's political/governance system), the Redguards are about the closest match. All Redguards are expected to have at least a basic grasp of combat skills, and only the very best (or survivors) are recruited into their military.
