Medieval Total War is a War RP. You control a country or many if you're lucky. You can be a religious man, a conquering lunatic or a just ruler. As the RP advances, you will have to deal with rebellions, assassination attempts, wars and invasions. You will have make heirs, marry your children into other families and build roads. You can make alliances, and destroy them.
SETTING:
It begins in the 10th Century AD. The Muslims in the South are pushing through Spain and an empire is forming in France. It is a turbulent time in Europe. But for expert rulers, it can also be prosperous...

Mechanics:
The game advances by 1 year every few posts. Eventually, your king or queen will die and a child must take over. The transition may be peaceful, but it can also be bloody. If your ruler dies without a heir, you can still play, but your kingdom may be destroyed before someone can come and save it. Childbirth is also risky. The mother could die and there is a possibility that the child will be born blind, deaf or disabled. NPCs exist as "bandits" and non-Europe/non-North African rulers. Events that happened in the real world happen there so it is a good idea to read up on your history.
Armies, Towns and Roads:
Armies are an important aspect of this game. Wihtout them, you cannot conquer or defend, you cannot put down rebellions or assist in Crusades. You get one army for each Town. Towns are really important. You start of with one, your capital, and get one every year. You can have two Towns per bit of land. Roads allow faster travel between Towns and eliminate bandit attacks. You can sacrifice a Town for a road. An army consists of 200 men. I will use a simulator to decide the outcome of battle.
Wars:
Wars will shape your country. Whether it be against rebels or empires. Generally, those with the biggest army will win but a good strategist can change the tide of battle. To initiate a war, you must have a reason, otherwise you run the risk of being attacked by other nations. It can be as simple as the other nation having a different religion.
Colonization:
Colonization is like building a new town, except you must have a coastal city and built a coastal city. be careful or you may spark a war with an NPC or a player.
Foreign Relations:
The Pope is one of the most important figures in Europe. Anger him and you may as well commit suicide.
Sultans and Caliphs are oving in from the East and South.
Charlemange is a head figure too.
The Eastern Roman Empire in thriving. They are extremely powerful.
Some things you can do:
You can expell all people of a certain nationality, race or creed from your country. This can cause rebellions and wars. You can also change your religion. You can engage in Crusades, make trading agreements (you will get a road that links with another country) and for pacts. You can also send ships to new lands where they will build towns that cannot be attacked by other nations who have not colonized there. You can support rebellions in other countries to weaken nations and you can even start them.
