Okay, look. I know that I'm just as guilty as you guys for making threads in joke, taking something silly and saying that so-and-so is awesome. And not because they aren't, either, and we are all awesome. But it should never be a popularity contest here on the forums. You guys are all special for your own reasons, and without all of you the forums wouldn't be what they are! Threads like this just make bad blood and serve as a way of trying to exploit the good things about people...and ignoring the good things in lots of other people as well.

So, kindly, I ask that we all together stop these threads and let's just enjoy everyone's presence every day in every thread! What say you, UESP?

I agree with Avron here. The only appreciation I need is the steady rise of my properties value! Get it? Because that's the worst joke I've ever told, and I am not going to explain it.
We already have the hall of fame, and sending someone a kind message or the like should be all that's ever necessary. While I like the occasional esteem boost as much as the next person, doing it in this way just feels forced and rather insincere. Instead of creating specific days to celebrate users, why not just send them a message where you share a few compliments? They'll surely appreciate it more than this.

It's not really a popularity contest as you can't get voted twice. It was a follow-up of the thread about Cam getting no love. It just shows people that they are appreciated.
