We have lingered in the General Discussion thread for too long, my friends. Now it is time for us to rise and take our rightful place at a proper tea party table in our very own thread! So get your fancy hats and favorite mugs and come hither to discuss everyone's favorite beverage, hot or cold, sugared or plain, bagged or loose, rooibos or oolong or black or green!
Some quick facts about tea:
- Tea comes from the plant Camellia sinensis, an evergreen plant, whose leaves are added to hot water. The first records of drinking tea date back to 10th century China, BCE.
- After water, it is reportedly the second most commonly consumed beverage in the world. That's a lot of tea!
- It comes in several varieties, each pertaining more or less to how it was picked and produced. It is also easily flavored and most of your favorite teas come from blending and adding various types together.
- Tea also contains catechins, a type of antioxidant.
So discuss your favorite tea drinks! I am a fan of at least two cups a day - a nice warm one in the morning and a herbal tea in the afternoon. As of late I've been in love with two loose-leafed varieties my friends gifted me, one which is an apple lemon pomegranate type. Mmmmm - is it delicious!

I'm a chronic tea drinker... Two cups in the morning, a mug for the bus, and two at home some time before bed. Mmmm, tea.
I prefer plain old Orange Pekoe, although I like trying others. Normally, I take it with a tiny splash of milk.

Tea... one of my top five passions. I have no favourite, a different tea for a different occasion... although generally I'm drinking something like PG tips due to it being so much cheaper and everyone likes it.
I drink around ten or more cups a day... it helps me stay off coffee which I got a bit addicted to awhile back. I like the body high it gives you, makes me so relaxed throughout the day and never makes me crash.

What kind of tea are you drinking?

Normally not THAT kind of tea, but that's not to say I don't partake once in awhile....
Normal tea makes you incredibly relaxed, I always feel top of the world after a nice cup of Rosey. I'm not talking trip out kind of high, just a happy high.

There's tea like that?

Well, as I posted earlier in the GD,
this is my favorite kind of tea. After that, I like russian caravan, which is pine-smoked black tea, and lapsang souchong, another smoked tea. That's not to say I don't like "conventional" tea, though. However, I almost never drink tea hot, and absolutely never with anything in it. I also really love ginseng tea, but it's VERY hard for me to find 100% ginseng tea, and so, I haven't had it in a few years.

I am very, very fond of tea.
My favourite flavour is black tea with barberry:

I am a big fan of classic Earl Grey. No milk, no sugar.

Why Avron, an entire thread for me? I'm flattered.

Clearly everyone loves discussing tea - they just don't know it. Our weekly Moderator Tea Day Tuesday is besides the point.

You know, this is a good point. I love coffee as well, but it makes me crash. Tea is very soothing and lacks that up-down-all-around caffeine ride coffee often offers. Not to say I don't love our java cousin, but there's something about tea that just warms up your very soul. Rainy day? Tea. You're sick? Tea. Want to snuggle up with a book before bed? Have some tea! The possibilities are endless, and for that I raise my dainty little tea cup.
Besides, I've been addicted to coffee (I think I am again, actually), and the withdrawal headaches aren't worth it. I love tea but I've certainly never been really addicted to it. I wonder why...

You know I love you, T.

Didn't I tell you about the tea store I found in the city called "Miss Tea"?

I like my tea with a teaspoon of coffee, two sugars, and no tea. Can I still contribute?

I love tea. Lyons gold blend, milk and one sugar. That is where it is at.

I like the more exotic, loose-leaf blends --- but the old favorite is "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot."
Let me know if you got that.

I loooove jasmine flowers and bergamot oil. I have some wonderful loose jasmine and tea from thailand and enjoy Earl Grey when drinking tea out of the house. I'm a neophyte when it comes to tea, but I used to be very into yerba mate.

Oh my god, I love you. Well, actually I love Picard but, you know.
I have some jade reserve here that I think I will brew when I get home from the office today. It has been tempting me forever...but a good cup of early grey or my green mint-lemongrass will suit me at work today! I'm trying to cut back on the coffee obsession. Replacing one evil with another evil may not be the way to go, but oh well!

It's okay, Avron. You can express your true feelings.
Patrick Stewart has to be one of my favorite actors, along with Johnny Depp, Robert Downing Jr., and the immortal Paul Newman.

I ought to make some tea. However, and I know this is lame, my
mother usually boils the water for me. Does anyone know the proper temperature to boil water at?
