Paarthurnax (Main Quest Spoilers)

Did you kill him? I personally didn't on any of my characters yet, because I like his meditation stuff better than Esbern's blessing, and plus he helped me a lot and stuff, and while I don't really RP to the whole "nice guy" thing, I just don't really want to kill or harm people (or dragons) who have actually helped me. (Ex: I got a sweep job to clean out Ysolda's house of valuables once....I'm married to Ysolda ;-;).
I'm thinking about it for my warrior character though, I have not gone very far in the storyline, but I kind of want to build up the Blades again and stuff, trouble is, I don't want to give Delphine a bunch of followers if she's just going to be like "oh well, you didn't kill this dragon so we won't talk to you anymore". And I do want to progress in the main quest too obviously...so...

I didn't with my first character, who is the only one I've done the main quest with. (I hate the thought of dragons appearing everywhere on my other two. . . I'll eventually do it.) I couldn't bring myself to do it, and my character, a witch, still has a complex moral compass. She's not wholly evil.

No I didn't. I couldn't believe it when Delphine said I had to kill him or would have no contact with me. She fast became one of the most hated character in the game because of her lame reason's for killing one of the biggest influences in the rise of the Dragonborn.

Hasn't this already been done?
Anyway, no I couldn't kill him. Heck, even if he was just some random guy and not a dragon I still wouldn't have killed him. He seems the most reasonable and helpful and genuinely easy to like out of all the npc's in Skyrim.

I managed to kill him the first time i played, but since then, despite wanting to do so, I have been unable kill him. He is marked as an essential characted unless you do things exactly right, which apparently is easier said than done.
If someone can please post how to access the quest and make sure it doesnt disappear (last time I talked to esbern immediately after going to savengaard, so I had the quest in the log, but I was going to kill him after defeating alduin and the quest disappeared and Paarth became invincible again).
I think this is sadly the new Andarji's Heirloom, but this time i hope they fix the bug so i dont have to design my entire game around doing things just right to not wind up with quests that can't be beat

You can't kill him after completing the main quest even though it is still in your journal because he gets marked essential; do it before and you shouldn't have a problem.
I could not bring my self to kill someone that helped me so much and possed no threat. I would not repeat the same ignorant mistake the blades made in the past. It is their fault we didn't have more dragon alies.

Well where do we all come down on paarth's alleged crimes? I have to assume they are written down in a book, since the dialogue about it is pretty vague, just noting that he was the worst offender against mankind.
Secondly, assuming the dragon is indeed guilty of the crimes, does he deserve to die, or despite him admitting that every day he is tempted to go back to his genocidal ways, can we rely on him?

Can't bring myself to kill him, as I can find no real reason to: Going all the way back to Alduin's first defeat, he's been no trouble, even calling the very first Blades his "friends". He could have sat on his mountain and not said a word, or worse, actively helped Alduin. He even offers to try and teach the remaining dragons the same philosiphy that he's taught the grey beards (non-violence).
To me it's Delphine that needs to be put down (or forcefully made to retire on a beach in Hammerfell. Her threat of the "Blades" not helping anymore was laughable at best. I mean think about it:
She stole something you needed.
She falsely accuses a race of people of causing the dragons to return (not that I like the Thalmore too much).
Sends you into their embassy to cause havok and possibly trigger a war due to their embassy being "invaded"
Then demands that you kill a creature that has been nothing but helpful, and a powerful ally.
I could do with a little less of her "help" anyways......

As much as I want to do the Blades quests, Paarthurnax the most awesome, wisest, and over-all coolest of characters in Skyrim. So, no.

I just scrolled through the list of book, and aside from a brief mention that he is suspected of being protected by the greybeards, I didn't see anything about Paarth or his purported crimes. Has anyone come across any info on this besides what delphine and esbern say?

its not the best thing but
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Atlas_of_Dragons
Paarthurnax - The legendary lieutenant of Alduin in the Dragon War. He is now known to lair on the Throat of the World under the protection of the Greybeards of High Hrothgar. Master Araidh continues the established policy of avoiding direct confrontation with the Greybeards while waiting for an opportunity to exact justice upon him.
And IIRC Paarth even says he did it

Yup, Paarthurnax helped Alduin at one point. But from what I've heard he was like the first (maybe only?) dragon to actually helped the humans overthrow the dragons, and without his help it would have been impossible for the humans to even sort of beat Alduin. And I hate Delphine, she is really annoying (she actually attacked me once because I had a bounty, dumb [&@%!]).
But the thing is I actually like Esbern, he's got a cool voice, wears ragged robes, summons storm atronachs, and throws fire balls everywhere, that's pretty cool. And iunno, I've heard you can go on dragon slaying missions with the blades too, with like 4 followers added to the blades, and that'd be cool. But I just don't want to throw Delphine 4 followers then just have them be like "[&@%!] you go kill Paarthurnax or I won't talk to you". =S Decisions, decisions.

I didn't kill him, hes too nice, and he changed sides already. Lost all respect for Delphine when she told me to kill him. I'm not going to kill someone over something that happened ages ago, before my char was even alive.

No way! I couldn't even conceive of the idea with either of my characters. He is so useful throughout the main quest I just kinda fell in love with him. And he makes a good point: he and the dragonborn are of the same sort. One of my characters is slightly turning more evil, so why would she kill an evil dragon too? Because you know he is...he just meditates a lot.

I did (though saved my game prior) just to see what difference it would make.
Felt so guilty and awful that I whirlwind sprinted off Sky Haven Temple after talking to that hard-faced cow Delphine, and reloaded my game.

Anybody ever wonders, if Alduin was flung out of the Time-wound, then shouldn't he have met Paarthurnax? Then why didn't Paarthy fight against Aka-son, if he had changed sides?

No way he is the ONLY character that refers to me as an equal in the game and recognizes me as my true self, a dovah.
Also even if the blades kill all the dragons, there will always be one. The player.

Not always. Dragonborn can die of old age, or injury, or disease. Hell, one of the Septim Emperors died when his horse threw him. Just goes to show you.
