What do you think. To what extent is it? Is it possible at all?

Crossbreeding doesn't really work out how you think. . . (I'm assuming)

When, say, a human mates with a mer, and the human is the female of the two, the child is a human. Not a mer, human/mer crossbreed, etc.

I think humans can mate with mer, mer with mer and humans with humans, and beasts with the same race of beast.

Oh! Thanks.

That is my opinion on it too. But I didn't understand the outcome, I do know do.

My Argonian married Brelyna, a female Dumner. I keep asking when she's going to lay some eggs by the water for me, but every time I bring it up she gets all tense and wide-eyed and looks at me like I'm weird.

the problem with this logic is then Bretons can not be real as they are a mix of mer and man

Racial Phylogeny while supporting human + mer working out, and mer +mer, after reading a few times it seems to me, also subtly hints at other races (argonians, khajiit, and orcs) also being able to crossbreed

Orcs are mer. Orsimer.

I don't know about you, but I don't think that it hints, even subtly, of the beast races being able to breed together successfully.

That's why they're an entirely separate race, you know. They're considered men over mer, though. Bretons, Imperials, Redguards and Nords are the men, Orcs, High Elves, Dark Elves, and Wood Elves are the mer, and the Khajiit and Argonians are obviously the beast races.

Breton + Breton = Breton

Altmer(m) + Imperial(f) = Breton
Altmer(m) + Imperial(f) = Imperial, possibly with a high aptitude for magics & taller than average height

I think that over time crossbreeds can happen. Eventually, after breeding between say many generations of Altmer and Imperial, a crossbreed will happen.

According to the laws of genetics, Imperial(f) + Altmer(m) = Imperial. However, Imperial-Altmer + Imperial-Altmer = Something with the charecteristics of both (second-generation hybrid).

you may want to re-read then
The reproductive biology of orcs is at present not well understood, and the same is true of goblins, trolls, harpies, dreugh, tsaesci, imga, various daedra and many others. Certainly, there have been cases of intercourse between these "races," generally in the nature of rape or magickal seduction, but there have been no documented cases of pregnancy. Still the interfertility of these creatures and the civilized hominids has yet to be empirically established or refuted, likely due to the deep cultural differences

Can mer races breed together successfully? That's really weird if orcs are mer and not beasts.

Orc + Altmer
Orc + Dunmner
Orc + Bosmer

Orcs are the "tainted" mers. They're not beasts.

I don't think men and other races works. Nothing will be born when you put a, let's say, male argonian with a female nord. The only exception are the Bretons (man + mer).

I think it might have something to do with Argonians laying eggs, and Khajiits having tails.

EDIT: Also, it seems like in the poll that some people are confusing what they would like to happen with what could actually happen. The one thing I know for sure is that there is no chance for a Khajiit to have kittens/eggs with an Argonian.

The more mer like Khajiit might be able to crossbreed with mer and humans.
